Must be on borrowed time. How this lying hypocrite leads a major political party beggars belief. Mind you Blair managed it.
A few things I find baffling about some of the comments on here on the EU vote: 1 Most of us (rightly so) wouldn't trust Cameron and Osborne on anything they tell us on most issues and yet they are prepared to believe every prediction of doom and gloom uttered by them regarding Brexit. 2 The above point is particularly baffling given that NOW Cameron says it would be disastrous for Britain (an admission his Government is incapable of maintaining and growing the 5th largest economy in the world without the EU propping us up. 3 Point 2 shows a complete reversal of the viewpoint Cameron and Osborne were spouting only a few months ago when he was allegedly threatening to leave if his proposed changes were not agreed. No mention then of economic disaster WW3 pension collapse, mass unemployment, house price collapse etc. 4 Why has no-one in the media put that question directly to Cameron. The BBC are increasingly biased towards remain and headlines at least seem to report every utterance of doom and gloom if we leave as fact. It is only when you read the actual article (which many people don't) that you realise they are distorted facts, half truths and assumptions. I accept that both sides are equally guilty ( £350m figures from Brexit we all know is nonsense and yet they still peddling it) 5 Those of you alleging that leaving would mean the UK Govt would destroy workers rights NHS benefits etc... they have been doing that quite well anyway whilst we are still in the EU.. I don't see the evidence for stating that it would accelerate just because we left the EU. Besides, if this shower were so keen on having the 'safeguards' of EU membership removed, why oh why are they campaigning so vigorously to stay in. That is imho a good reason for Brexit - you can vote a UK Govt OUT but the EU is increasing democratic and the MEPs actually have little power over the unelected and undemocratic EU commission and bodies within the EU who come up with most of the policies. If we vote remain we are stuck with it. 6 Point 5 I find strange seeing as how the loudest voices for remain are Banks, Corporations, the IMF, Treasury big business CEOs and Economists (the last two are NOT as unanimous as reports would have us believe and not exactly reliable in predicting economic upturns and downturns. In particular they are especially not known for their concern about the wellbeing of the average man in the street unless it directly impacts upon their profits and liefstyle. I really think the constant drip feed of doom and gloom (and downright lies) is having an impact on the mindset of people who cant be ars*d to read between the lines. Statistics can be (and are being) distorted to support the arguments of both sides . The Remain are very adept at taking two worse case scenarios and combining them to make a case for disaster. Many arguments also have dependencies and the Remain ALWAYS choose the worst statistic as their starting point, followed by the highest potential adverse statistic on the impact that particular scenario will have. That £4800 per house-hold loss of income was an example and also a misleading figure for other reasons. The latest 'gem' is the fact they found that 60+ and retirees are more likely to vote Out and so now target them with 'Your pension will suffer if inflation rises if we leave, forgetting to mention that they are index linked to inflation so will have little or no impact. House prices may fall.....err good for you people trying to get on the housing ladder and also cooling the foreign property investor market . Dearer holidays- why? Expats kicked out of Europe Why? High inflation Why? In short, the establishment, individuals and organisations, IMF banks and EU affiliates are the ones stridently advocating Remain, labour have been somewhart muted in spite of their Remain stance as if they are not really convinced by their own arguments. As a personal aside. Many people on the continent would love us to exit as they are also afraid of the way the EU is heading
I thought it was only me that had seen Cameron for what he really is, a lying two faced con man. The only thing he hasn't forecast is if we vote leave everybody's left leg will crumble to dust.
You do have to wonder, if leaving the EU would result in the apocalyptic scenarios that Cameron is suggesting, whether he has been criminally and recklessly irresponsible in even giving us the option of doing so and risking the situation arising. The answer to that is that it won't.
Not much disguised bias there then! What I find baffling is how someone who appears so anti EU sets up residency in another EU country.
Not sure it was disguised. On previous posts I have stated I am in favor of out. Living within the EU but outside of the UK does give a chance of a different perspective and not being fed a constant barrage of pro EU propoganda by the UK media. Many people in mainland Europe ae dienchanted with the EU. Your reference to my choice of location in retirement is baffling to me. I don't see where I choose to live should have any real impact on my choice in this vote (unless I believed the total lie that we could be forced out of the country where we now resident and paying taxes if we vote leave).
Incidentally what do you think of Camerons complete 'about face' i.e. We will leave if I dont get change" 4 months ago and now " ...disaster if we leave"? He was either incompetent then or a liar now. Must be one or the other. Either way he is not fit to run the country.
Point 5: yes, the gov. Has been eroding working rights. However, there are fundamental rights held in EU law that they can't touch. If we leave , almost certainly Cameron's position becomes untenable and the party would likely swing to the right. Perhaps rights on holiday leave, for example, at the moment are politically untouchable , but this would be a matter of faith rather than law. Secondly, although it's not ideal, the members you are saying are unelected are selected by the elected party. This is part of their remit. I wonder whether you have the same concern over the hereditary peers in the Lords or the royal family?
