That steward right at the top deserved a medal.

Kept loads of Millwall at bay, stood his ground shoved them back.

No support at all from the Police though, something went seriously wrong.

There were only a few hundred Barnsley fans in that top tier mainly families. Well done Millwall, you know how to pick them.

So they charged once Barnsley's blokes had been shifted.

Cheers for posting that - have shared my thoughts with the Met Police.

On their Twitter and Facebook pages. Currently emailing too.

Sorry Met Police, but your presence at the clash inside Wembley stadium on Sunday caused by a group of marauding Millwall fans was conspicuous only by it's absence. As you know, the top tier was not full of Barnsley fans, indeed I believe only one section had been opened due to demand. Where they were located was probably the fault of the stadium who wanted the ground to look full for the watching TV audience. The Millwall top tier however was much more full, but not exactly sold out. Because of that, every other tier in the stadium was able to witness this small group of Millwall trouble causers making their way round towards the Barnsley fans. I'll point out at this stage that it wasn't a mass of Millwall fans - the majority stayed in their seats to watch the game, but it was quite clear that they were allowed to walk around unchallenged - every man and his dog knew their intentions and the outcome. Between 12 and 19 minutes of the attached link shows the main incident. Credit to the stewards who put themselves on the line in the same manner one would have expected the Police to do.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smTup2I4It4 Millwall as a club may be making an effort to combat their image and may be making efforts to disassociate themselves from their infamous, notorious hooligan following - I don't know - I don't follow them that closely (again I'll stress here I met a lot of decent Millwall fans, shook hands and even saw a group in the top tier stay to applaud Barnsley receiving the trophy). The point is however, the notorious element DOES exist and all bar none saw them intent on causing aggro with little or no Police intervention. What I would say about Millwall FC is that the pre-match comments by their team manager should be seen as at the least, inflammatory, at the worst, incitement. I would appreciate you looking at his comments. Finally, I believe both Wembley Stadium (I'll leave the stewards out of criticism) and the Met Police failed in their duty of care to the section of fans in the top (50x) tier blocks by a) caring more about TV exposure than safety, and b) failing to react in a timely manner to an incident that was, as predicted by 50,000 people several minutes earlier, out of control.

Some really clear footage of the trouble. Some Sarf London door knockers will be rattling very soon. Wait for the CCTV mugshot hall of shame coming very soon

That Millwall fan in the blue deserved knocking out. Not just because he started on kids and families but because he started on a lad with his back turned and threw a cheap punch.

We were in that section, God knows why they put us that close to their imbeciles. Can only think it was to save on extra stewards. Lads stood their ground though.
Everybody in football knew what was going to happen, win or lose. The policing was shambolic.

The police say they had no say on where the football league chose to put the fans and that because of Millwall recent past at Wembley they had to have police in the Millwall end and a lot of police were still outside dealing with earlier arrests. The police were deployed as soon as trouble started but it's a big stadium and takes a while to navigate

They're quite right..once I entered the stadium it took more than a full minute to find my seat.

that classy beautiful young lady at 3.50 stood in the Barnsley side of Wembley Way swinging her Millwall scarf round trying to get a reaction, their women are worse than their men

Laughable ballux 1 - If there's a risk to public order they can tell them who to put where, cf our own beloved Plod and Oakwell.

Laughable ballux 2 - But a few hundred ageing, asthmatic, drunk cockernee fatties weighed down by their unwashed original seventies clothes managed to 'navigate' half-way round the stadium a long while before any Plod got up from counting their double overtime in the rest room.
