Who says we've offered owt to Brownhill, PNE? Maybe we're not arsed? Don't get me wrong, I like the lad and he's got a lot of potential. But he's not our player and is probably the one player being mentioned that I can see us replacing easily enough. I would imagine the wages and the agreed fee between the negotiating clubs would be considerable, and aye, I'm not sure BFC have ever intimated we want to sign/keep him. Dunno. Bristol's midfield is ***** to be fair, so I expect he'd be a regular. Not sure he'll have a player the calibre of Conor alongside him though. Hammill has achieved special things here. Perhaps he realises it can't really get any better here? Bow out a hero etc? I'd love him to stay here til he retires, but I will wish him well if he departs. But to Bristol? Naew. I'd end up wanting him to fail. Losing players to Bristol City?? **** me. Mawson will surely cost a few bob, so good luck with that, LJ. As for Tommy Wright, I like the bloke and will be disappointed if/when he teams back up with Johnson. But I can understand that. And perhaps Hecky would prefer his own assistant anyway? Be interesting to see who that is. Most important things for me this summer? Retaining Hourihane and Winnall, and seeing Hecky confirmed as manager. Fingers crossed.
Do you think Winnall can make the step up? Be interesting but gut feeling says League One may be his level. be happy to be proven otherwise though. Hes got dedication though so hopefully that will see him through.
Think he'll do ok...maybe not top end .. comparing him to recent strikers..not as quick as Craig Davies or as physical as O'Grady but hopefully a better goalscorer than either.
Wright has no connection to Bristol City. I understand he was at Oldham before LJ went there and that he lives in Wakefield which is probably a legacy of his days at Leeds United, Bradford and Doncaster. Wakey to Barnsley is an easier commute than Wakey to Oldham. Bristol is a complete upheaval and a lot further south than he's been before. Don't see it somehow. Agree about Hourihane and Winnall. LJ probably had a positive impact on the player he is now but can't see Sam going there especially if he's going to be put out wide in a 4-5-1 which is where LJ seemed to think he could operate.
I've no idea further than knowing he's a proven goalscorer, prolific even, and creates goals too, in L2 and L1. I'm looking forward to finding out. I imagine he'll relish the opportunity to test himself against tougher opponents. I certainly wouldn't doubt him.
We'll have to wait and see I suppose, but I've had a few reports from certain folk that seem to point to Tommy's departure. I'd be stunned if either Conor or Sam ended up with LJ. I didn't get the impression their relationship was great...
