What about getting a sponsor for the stadium, would that have support with the fans? We certainly need to be more proactive with our off field activities this time around. Exciting times.

I'd be against a complete rename - sacrilege. However, I could cope with "Oakwell, sponsored by (insert name)".

We've done pretty well with naming rights whilst still keeping the stadium name in tact - everything has a sponsor or so it seems

I really can't understand why we haven't sold the naming rights already.

It will always be known as Oakwell by the fans and opposition fans, but the club could make a few bob.

Most clubs have sold the naming rights to their stadiums now but I couldn't tell you what the majority are. Pride Park for example. I know it isn't called Pride Park anymore but I haven't the foggiest what it is called.

Don't all the stands at Oakwell now have sponsors? I can only tell you what the Ponte end is called. Haven't the foggiest about the rest.

Calling it anything other than Oakwell wouldn't sit well with me but if it was Oakwell brought to you by... Then why not.

Wouldn't care less what "they" call it. If it brings money into the club go for it. It's always Oakwell to us much in the same it's still the Ponty end.

Really can't see what it matters

It's only the new stadiums where the sponsors name seems to stick ( Etihad, Emirates, Reebok etc) cos they've never been known as owt else.

Older ones that are sponsored (St. James's , Valley Parade etc) still get called by their original name as far as I can tell.

"The Percy Turner Rec" sarnds dead Tarn like :D

No thanks, I'd much rather stick with Oakwell.

So would I. I was just showing how Oakwell could be kept in the name if it did happen.

No. Anyway, you can't sell the naming rights, when stands are already individually sponsored already...

Although there's been some pretty atrocious sponsorships out there over recent years, The Tony Macaroni Arena, Sports Direct @ St. James' Park, Mitsubishi Forklift Stadium, Hunky Dorys Park(that's genuine).

Accrington Stanley. Although everybody still calls it the Crown Ground.
