Curry Mahal in Dodworth is by far the best curry house in Barnsley. Alternatively 4 courses for £10 Elachi in Hoyland is decent and they have a funny little waiter that tries to sell you 'mongoose ' larger instead of cobra which is entertaining.

The one near the Vic in Cudworth is nice. Spice house I think it's called. And it's Bring your own beer.

Must admit though, it's the only Indian I've been to in Barnsley.

Darton Balti is my favourite, although Royal Spice is close in quality and proximity.

Use to be regulars at Darton Balti and Royal Spice. Since moved onto Little India at Barugh Green. Takeaway only, but spot on every time.

Darton Balti IMO has gone down hill over the years. Quality of chickens not what it was. Found myself waking up in middle of night being sick in my mouth. Far too rich and oily.

Royal Spice has good and bad days. Last one I had over a month ago I couldn't finish. Smelt and tasted like cheesy / sweaty socks. I noticed the wierd smell when I went in restaurant to order. But put it down to being busy with a large party of 'unwashed' - But no, it was something from the kitchens that wasn't right. Not going back anytime soon.
