I'd take him as a squad player on a free. It's suggested one of the reasons he's leaving is to move back up north Sent from my Kestrel using Tapatalk
I confess I haven't studied his play that closely but He's 6'4" and reasonably quick. He's 26 He's played over 300 career games, the vast majority in the Championsip. He's a local lad, from the Penistone Grammar School of centre backs. He's better than Nyatanga. He's available on a free transfer. On that basis, I'd be quite surprised if he isn't under consideration.
Might be setting myself up for disappointment but I'd love to get Long back, him, Roberts and Mawson would be a fantastic starting bunch, If Beevers would be happy to play fourth choice then I'd say go for it.
It seems like an obvious fit. But didn't he turn down a contract here to go to Millwall in the first place? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
This. If he's happy to come knowing he'll be behind Mawson and Roberts, then get shut of Nyatanga and find another one of these youngsters at CB to play 4th choice and we're pretty much sorted in defence for me.
Lewin got more Championship games under is belt than Beevers, already part of a successful squad that folks want to keep together and has been professional about playing understudy. Beevers you would think would want a decent wedge and first team footie guarenteed. Lewin for me no brainer. Yeah, yeah he dint have the best first haif of season, but not many did.
I'm sorry, but Nyatanga has been pretty shocking since his return. God knows what happened to that promising 18 year old we had on loan. A clear liability in League 1 so no way we should keep him for the Championship. Beevers and Long are the obvious choices for CB.
Cant agree the season before he was far from shocking and this season for me he had a coupla bad months when the side was at a low ebb and he weren`t alone. He made errors but so did the rest of the back four but he seemed to get the most stick being with us the longest the others were given a bit of leeway being newbies. This happens a lot with supporters they call for loyalty from the players but offer them nothing in return through their bad spells. I`d let him serve out his contract fighting to get into the team.
Beevers leaving Millwall has gone down well on their forums, as you might imagine. A few rational posts wishing him well, but plenty of others calling him a "northern lovely person", a "Yorkshire lovely person" and hoping he breaks his leg. Absolute charmers...
