Yes good luck George gutted your leaving personally think you,ve been treated shabbily to say the least.
To be fair he said, I bet 5 of the first team aren't here next season. 4 of the starting line up from the final aren't at the club at present. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Nope I've just checked it. A poster listed what he thought the line up would be. I'll try and dig it out. And the comment was "at least 5 of those won't be here next year"

But who was the 5th. And why wouldn't Fletcher and Isgrove come back.
Absolutely gutted to see him go,a decision I'm baffled at tbh but by sound of things its a decision both sides are amicable with Whichever club are lucky enough to secure his services have got a dedicated ,honest and hard grafting skilful player and wish him nothing but the very best of goodwill. Will always get a good reception down the well . have a great career George,I know you will
Could be. So does that mean Isgrove and Fletcher aren't coming back? Assume George would know their thoughts. Bit dissapointing. Or is Mawson def going down south? Hammill has re signed so was he one of the 5. I'm hoping it's just guess work. But a players dad probably knows what the player in question thinks. And if you add the Fact Josh Scowens dad is tweeting suggesting that Conor Hourihane may be off you get to the point where you wonder what's what.
Performance away at Bradford and goal at home to Peterborough the standout moments for me, the latter as crucial a goal as we've possibly scored. GW's attitude to playing football really in touch with the supporters. It's been a pleasure watching him wear red and I can't think that anyone would wish him anything other than the very best, given where he's come from as player, and what he's given to our club. It's not entirely in Fletcher and Isgrove's hands as to whether they come back as they're both contracted to other clubs. You may be reading too much into things - Mantom, Fletcher and Isgrove are not our players, Hammill seemed unlikely this time last week and Observer knew about the Williams situation ahead of us. Anything else is speculation. Much as I deeply regret the departure of Williams today I take it to mean that the club have a really concrete view of where they are going with recruitment for next season if they can be certain that a bloke who can play both left and right back would have struggled to get a game. Therefore I can't see them letting any of our own contracted players go unless there's a totally silly fee on offer and a replacement lined up. (I could be totally wrong!) I don't think Josh's dad is tweeting suggesting that Conor's going. I do think he's a k**b and he shouldn't have tweeted anything but I take it as him mischievously saying that because Josh had his squad number pinched, Josh should go and nick someone else's.
I've supported the club for 55 years and it's been a real pleasure / honour to see your son pull on the red shirt and play his heart out in every game he played. You must be so proud of what he has achieved. I've seen him go to the stands at the end of every game he's played and I always thought it was to his mum and dad. He's a credit to you his family himself the club and us as fans. God luck to George in his future career. With his application and effort he will succeed wherever he ends up. He will ALWAYS be welcomed back in this town.
Hope we don't regret this - great footballer who will be back in football very soon - all the best and thank you
George is a good player and it's a shame he's leaving, but I think it's quite a good gesture to withdraw the contract offer to allow him to go where he likes for nothing. He'll be snapped up. Not sure many clubs would have done the same.
One of the finest teams we've ever had was the 81 side that got promoted out of the third tier and nearly went straight up again the floowing season. Ronnie Glavin, Aylott, Mcarthy et al. This season's team bears very close comparison to it and George was a big part of it. I've always been highly impressed with his football and his attitude. Thanks George and good luck.
Despite this clear and concise explanation I am still gutted that he won't be a red next season. But I appreciate your comments regardless and want to wish George and his family (you) all the best in the future. I have no doubt that he'll find another club and continue to put performances in that supporters will always enjoy. I have previously stated on this forum just how pivotal I thought the Bradford away game was. That for me was the point where I thought we might actually be onto something. And the standout player that night was George. When we were taking our seats, it was cold, pissing it down and people were stunned to see George selected. Not only that, but he was picked at left back. He'd be up against Mark Marshall, who has terrorised many a full back in his career, a real live-wire. George put him into the wall bottom early doors. He then swung in a cross from which we scored what would turn out to be the crucial, winning goal. He was beaten just once by Marshall all night. Time after time, he got a foot in, a slide tackle, he matched him for pace. All the while, keeping us moving going forward. It was quite frankly the best individual performance I saw last season, all context taken into consideration. That is only my opinion, and we're lucky I guess that others could throw up a few others for that particular honour such was the brilliance of last season. But for me, we found a player that night. And he continued to perform to a fantastic standard all the way to Wembley on May 29. He reminded me of Bobby Hassell. If you know Barnsley well by now, you'll know how big a compliment that is. He will be forever remembered by BFC supporters, his name etched into club history. He even made it into the charity song I helped to write. "George Williams is clever, he's got a degree.. he's been a revelation, I'm sure you'd all agree" And what about THAT celebration at Crewe with Big Alfie, or THAT one down the touchline at Swindon with Winnall. But the one we'll always remember, THAT goal and celebration at Oakwell against Peterborough.... It's been some journey for your son so far in the beautiful game and he's only 23. And he leaves Barnsley FC against the wishes of near enough every supporter. On good terms in other words. Not many can say that. Two Wembley appearances. Two trophies. One promotion. Only lost once was it when starting/finishing a game? Scored a crucial goal. Put players into the hoardings. Was a true pro throughout. Yep. You should be so proud. I could be here all night basically. So long, George Williams. Barnsley hero. YOU BEAUTIFUL RED.
I think Barnsley have dropped a clanger letting George go, and am really disappointed that they didn't see fit to offer him a better deal and didn't see him as a valuable member of the squad next season as I think he has been a great player for us. However, I am glad that, having been honest about the position, and George then making an informed decision that he needs to move on to get regular football, the club have then done the right thing in cancelling the contract offer so he can move on a free with no complications. Really hope he finds a good move soon and I am sure he will - I wish him all the best wherever he goes.
