Reading this forum over the last few weeks I get the feeling people don't see the massive leap it will be from league one to the Championship.

I've seen people think we could finish 11th with pretty much the squad we have know or had in the last week when Hammill agreed to sign.

Like it or not but the club have let go two players that are okay in league one but don't have the ability to play in the second tier of English football, a massive league. It's not nasty from the club it's the way things are. There will be a lot of changes I'd imagine over the next 4/6 weeks. The club will be looking at every area from Striker to Goalkeeper. The rumours that they are looking at Bradshaw and Long tells me two area's they aren't happy with. They are actively looking at bringing in an attacking midfielder. These players will be expecting to play when they come to oakwell or they'll stay or move to other clubs.

    We could look more like
    ---------Bradshaw
    Hammill Moncur Watkins

The point i'm trying to make is things will change, get used to it. The leaps up their with anything in football for me.

avg wage 1800 to 8000. Thats massive

Guys! GUYS!!! The Thursday **** wind-up has just arrived. I'll be done with it in a minute, but I'd give it 15 before anyone else takes a dump.

Id say we need plenty more signings to build up the squad and get some quality in depth - presuming some of those younger lads who came in last year aren't seen as being up to the job.

Blimey, we will struggle if we're only going with 4 players :p

You just couldn't resist having a dig at Winnall and Roberts, could you?

Til we understand which players we'll be retaining and if we can bring back Fletcher and Isgrove, its difficult to know what needs strengthening.

Midfield, wide and up front (despite having a lot of development strikers) seem the obvious areas

Winnall scored more than Bradshaw at the same level last season, depsite playing in a team which was crud for half a season and under a manager who played him out wide and up top on his own.

For me there's lots of gaps and a big drop in standard in players who can cover when players are injured/tired/suspended.

Bradshaw is a better all round player than Winnall quicker would be able to play as a lone striker we all admit Winnall can,t play the lone front role.Well both of them together that would be mouth watering!

Obviously it's a mater of opinion as to who is the better all round player. None of us watch Bradshaw every week. We play two up top. Winnall and Bradshaw together would be ace. But it won't happen.

I agree with some of your points but Williams made a bigger step up from non-league to league one & adapted to it, he's still pretty young & is clearly benefitting from full time football so I think there's a good chance he would've adapted to championship football.

That average wage is for the league, not us. I'd be surprised if any of our players earn that next season, we only had a handful who got near that throughout our last spell in the championship.

Before I even opened this thread I was trying to guess at which sly way he could have a dig at Winnall without *actually* referring to him. Then of course he can say 'well I wasn't going to mention him but now you bring him up...' Yawn.

I think people do see the step up - a lot of folk are just saying they would be happy to retain a number of good players that have the potential to support a squad with depth (e.g. Williams) but also want to see signings that are perceived championship quality.

Has it been confirmed we are looking at Bradshaw and Long? I hope so but I've seen nowt official.

that shows how paper thin we are. I'd love to know how many combined appearances in lg1 or above the ones in yellow have made.
