I wonder if it's the kind of 'justice' jo Cox would have advocated?

You cant compare giving him the death penalty to him killing her. He's murdered an innocent woman for nothing more than her beliefs.

And bringing back the death penalty will satisfy your thirst for justice ?
That would go against everything Jo believed in and stood for .

How do they know though?, without the death sentence there might have been far more murders. Just saying like

Its basic comparative research. The empirical evidence is pretty overwhelming that it has no impact as a deterrent indeed can be seen as the opposite so whether you agree or not with the death penalty the deterrence debate is pretty much done.

This 100%. Any party that offers a referendum on this will get my vote.

I know this is probably a little bit tongue-in-cheek but the IRA and all the other Irish paramilitaries were terrorists.

They were but I think the climate in Britain has changed and we tend to forget the IRA- some bloke commented on social media that we never had terrorists in the UK before muslims started arriving - short memories some people

It costs more to execute someone than imprison them for life.

People try and put forward rational arguments for the death penalty but there aren't any. It doesn't work as a deterrent and it doesn't save money. The only reason to want it is a thirst for blood and retribution.

Some people do forget and although in my opinion Islamic terrorism is on a different level to the Irish terrorism and the ideology was very different it was still terrorism that was indiscriminate and killed innocent people. Terrorism is terrorism regardless of skin colour and faith.

I've had this debate before and from memory some of the figures come from flawed research carried out in America.

The trial is a lot more expensive, as are the appeals, and it costs more to keep someone on death row than in gen pop.

A trial is a trial is it not. Guilty verdict given. Only difference is sentence.

Then pin em up and inject em.

I'd like to see costs one v the other and how it costs more to keep a ***** like this alive.

In short for anyone who can't be arsed to read it.

Solicitors charge more for these cases.

And because death row inmates are kept separate then staffing costs.

The cost of the shot is a ton. Nowt but drug company profits as well

    Simple solution.

Cap the ridiculous charges and stick the inmates in general population.

Should be no segregation in prison.
