£1m for 3 years. I'd say that's OK as an investment for someone who has the potential to earn us far more than £1m!
The report on "news now" says Leeds are prepared to pay it & agree compo with Man U. We should get in there.
Is it? I thought Hammill was our top paid player. And we'd pushed the boat out to get him on a championship wage of around that much with permission from rest of squad to break our wage structure. I've absolutely no idea though. Only going on what I've picked up on here over time... Literally not a clue if it's anywhere near correct though. But if average wage in championship is 8k I'd be surprised if we'd put a player unproven in championship on that
Danny Drinkwater scenario. We didn't step up up with big money when we had a chance. Trippier may have been the same and John Curtis was a good fullback at higher levels than us after he left us. It is difficult to roll the dice for a million quid. The times we did have go, Hristov and Hume, well we didn't get value there. Fair play to Patrick and Ben. When they up the stakes I hope it comes off. And I think young Fletcher may be worth the roll.... but maybe we can't do this without Stones money.
I liked RW when he 1st came but if that is true we should be shipping him out ASAP, or at least trying to.
If true add the story to the football is fooked catergory if one half of an alright season in division three means you can ask for silly money.
At the same time Fletcher hasn't got any experience of playing in the Championship yet, so it's a big gamble still.
It's far from true. Hammill was our highest paid player last season and the whole squad agreed to the wage structure being broken to bring him in. Even hammill was miles away from being paid 8k a week.
At the start of last season there wasn't a player on over £4k a week whilst we were in league one. Don't know whether Hammill got more but I doubt it because he had few options & needed to prove himself which he has now done & got a wage increase
Whoever told you RW is on 8K a week must be smoking something funny. No one (maybe barring Hammill) will have been on more than 4K a week. Most will be under 3K. This might have changed with promotion wage rises etc.. Anyway, if we can push the boat a little I think Ashley Fletcher would be worth every penny of 7K a week. 7K isn't too silly wages for mid to lower championship clubs.
If Leeds really are offering to pay that it's an absolute joke, as I know for a fact that they are barely solvent. I reckon they'll be in admin again within the next two years.
