Another one in the mould of Lee Johnson. Nothing but spiel, rhetoric and salesmanship. Make it seem like they'd give you the world while they're here but deep down they never really cared about our Football Club. Just their own pockets and careers. It's fair enough really you cant blame them. But give me the Patricks, Heckys, Rimmo, Bobbys, Discos, Bunnys and Ronnies of this world any day. Whilst ever these blokes are at the club we know were in safe and very loyal hands. It's so much more than just a job to them and I'd take that over some flash Charlie with a law degree and a good vocabulary any day!
I thought Ben Mansford was a fantastic ambassador and superb link with the fans and I'll be sad to see him go.
Couldn't disagree more. He's transformed this Football Club from a losing to a winning culture both on and off the pitch. Genuinely gutted he's f*cked off to them b*stards. The tw*t!!
i've always been really impressed with him tbh. of the names you've mentioned, with the exception of patrick, none of them could do his job. i'm really surprised about him going to leeds though. all the things he's talked about - community, continuity, stability etc. The complete antithesis of what leeds are. I think it's a very strange move for him.
He was and thats because hes a great public speaker and salesman. No doubting he's good at his job. But we'll see how quickly he'll look to strip away the work he helped achieve when they're coming in for our players. He knows what offers our players and the club cant refuse.
that's just life i'm afraid. when ben joined us we all talked about 'poacher turned gamekeeper' and how that would benefit us. of course ben will now look to strengthen leeds. that's just him doing his job. he's only 1 man. we'll be reyt.
Yes but he's gone to a club that won't pay what we'll accept. Out of principle we wont be selling anyone to Leeds unless we're really pulling their pants down. Good luck Ben. You turned it around. And now I have even more reason to despise Leeds. Which I barely thought possible. Bristol City and Leeds to get relegated please...
I'm not saying they can do his job. Plenty of other blokes can though. Thats the whole idea of the way employment at the club is set up now. I'm saying lets get someone in who genuinely cares. Like the blokes above do.
No, it doesnt tell me a lot about the bloke. He's gone to get a job that's probably higher paid at a bigger club. End of. That's life. He hasn't committed a crime for heaven's sake.
why do you think he didn't genuinely care though? he gave 100% for us while he was in here, in my opinion. he's a young ambitious bloke. i don't know the details of his departure so i can't comment on that. the timing isn't great but such is life. we recruit people to the club because they are young, ambitious, hungry and smart. we shouldn't be too surprised then, when all those qualities see them move to somewhere bigger. it just happens. there are plenty of CEOs out there. we'll be reyt
Surley it tells you that like Lee Johnson, he never really cared about BFC. He just did the job to progress his own career and always planned on leaving when the opportunity came by.
and? why do you think people should be chained to us for life? i don't get it. people change employers every second. it just happens.
I'm not surprised he's gone. Not at all. What I'm saying is blokes like Lee Johnson and Ben Mansford say what they know the fans want to hear. They dont really mean it though. They're just saying it because its their job. The likes of Hecky and Patrick have a genuine love and feeling towards the club.
well yeah. but that's not really a crime or a surprise is it? hecky and patrick are born and bred barnsley. supporters man and boy. LJ and Ben aren't. you can't possibly expect them to share the same passion, surely?
It tells me he must have a lot of belief in his own ability if he's taken a challenge like Leeds on! Not sure what else the fact he's gone tells you. He has probably have been offered a lot more money. I'm not sure there are many people who would turn down a new job, a huge pay rise and a new challenge.
You're probably right. Especially as I am reasonably sure that Leeds are in a complete financial pickle right now. Perhaps he's looking to make a fast buck when they go into admin again??
