    Where have I said it's a crime?

All I said is whilst ever we have blokes who genuinely care about the club we're fine.

If we had a team full of Ben Mansfords and Lee Johnsons. Like Leeds United have then thats when we're in trouble.

Perhaps it's just that the club doesn't think he's worth what he, and Cellino, think he's worth. Perhaps the club knows best.

    He must have.

But at Leeds whatever long term plan Ben whats to put in place quite frankly wont be long term. It's a very risky move. And to work for someone like Cellino you have to be of a certain character.

I know Leeds are a bit of a joke club at the moment, but they still have more potential than us, it's just a fact. I think Ben sees this as an opportunity, however remote, to get a seat at the big table table eventually. I'm sad to see him go, but no hard feelings ... I think most of us would swap jobs given a better opportunity.

I do worry that he'll come back to raid the larder, but that's life.

Thanks for all you did Ben, you made a difference regardless of whether or not it was all bullsh*t. you leave us in a better place than where you found us.

I want someone good at the job. Whether they're a Barnsley fan or not makes no difference.

Probably signed a 3 year deal on 5 times what he is on at Barnsley safe in the knowledge he'll only last a few months :)

What's wrong with that though? We ALL do that. It's life. We set out to do the best for ourselves and our family.
I think he did care about Barnsley. But not to the point where he was going to stall his career and adversely affect what he can do for his family (should he have one). I think it's ridiculous to expect that he would.
I find it a bit strange he's gone to a basket case club like Leeds but I have no idea of what guarantees etc he may have. Good luck to him. We paid him to do a job. He did it admirably and with good humour despite some of the stupid insults he had to endure on here. Now he's gone to work for someone else. Just like every one of us on here have in the past. Good luck to him.

And another thing. Hecky. Done a fabulous job. I hope he continues to do so. If he does big clubs will come calling. Eventually in that case he'll go. And who could possibly blame him? He'd just be pursuing his career and have every right to do so.

    That he's ambitious.
Isn't that normal for career people?

Walk a mile in a man's shoes n all that.

The bloke is bettering himself whatever you think of the club, hell be more high profile ,better paid etc etc.
Tell me you wouldn't do the same in your line of work .

The gist of your thread indicated IMO to treason wherever he went. It didn't question his personality just because he's gonna Leeds ,it seemed an assassination of his character in general imo

The gist of my thread was that we dont needs the likes of Lee Johnson and Ben Mansford to survive. We need the loyality of the blokes mentioned above.

Got to say im shocked at this news, however we are not in the loop to know the ins and outs of what has taken place.
No doubt if its all been done without the knowledge of Patrick then i bet hes gutted and like us amazed at the timing of it all.
That said we can thank Ben for his time and the job hes done for us here at Barnsley.
Maybe Ben knows more about the situation at Leeds and could be getting ready to be part of a new dawn, under new owners which he may be part of in the months ahead ....who knows...until then ......fingers crossed it all goes flat on its ar5e and Agent mansford does a great job....lol... im sure...id like that nudge nudge wink wink..lol....just give him time........and pray

The appointment has now freed up Cellino to concentrate on his real job of picking the team. :)

You sometimes read of a player who has moved to another club and your gut reaction is 'that's a big mistake'

That's exactly how I feel about Mansfords move to Leeds -

I wish the guy well but sadly he's made the biggest mistake of his career.
