Dropped for Browny, drafted in as emergency fullback, now Moncur has signed. Then throw in his Twitter strop over the squad number. Assuming we don't sell Conor, it seems he isn't in Hecky's first XI. Are his days numbered?? I really hope not, but is he going to be happy fighting for a start again next season??
We only have 3 central midfielders, one of which is Digby, so we don't know if his future is with us or not. Til Moncur officially signs, I'm still viewing it as 3 midfielders. I still think we're a couple more short in that position to rotate and cover for injuries and suspensions.
Some sort of diamond in midfield? Josh at its base just in front of back 4?? Hammill, Conor & Izzy across the middle, Moncur just behind SSW. Watkins in if we don't get Lloyd. That's probably why I'm not a football manager. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why do we always think a player will move on when we sign another player. Its all about strengthening the squad which we desperately need to be competitive in the Championship.
I can see him getting plenty of games playing in his old position of centre midfield. I suspect Moncur is going to play pushed up behind Winnall, which is where he's played for Colchester.
Even if Moncur was played in Brownhill's role this season, he's not going to have no injuries or drops in form, so Scowen will get plenty of opportunities to play. He's a class player and Hecky has said this. He's also very versatile as he's proved, which is useful. Although I doubt he'd be good enough to play right back in the Championship
so you think we will move away from 4-4-2 then? or you think he will play moncur as a striker with winnall? personally, i'd be surprised at either of those
I guessing Link below has him playing the advanced attacking role in the centre three of a 4-2-3-1 formation. So maybe that's what we're looking at with Hammill and Yiadom out wide either side, Winnall up front onon his own and Scowen and Hourihane in midfield. Either that or as I said above with him upfront behind Winnall... I can't see him and Hourihane in midfield together. But who knows! http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/2596671
I'll be gutted if we revert to the one up top nonsense. 4-4-2 Davies; Bree, Mawson, Roberts, White; Yiadom, Hourihane, Moncur, Hammill; Watkins, Winnall. Walton; Scowen, Nyatanga, Moncur, Williams, Tuton, Payne. As it stands. When do we spend (a rumoured) half a mill on a player? Rarely. And so I expect Moncur to be a starter. And if Conor stays (please, God) then Scowen doesn't get in. It's harsh perhaps. I really like him. I suppose with more incomings and outgoings, pre season, friendlies etc, things will soon become clearer. But as it stands, I am liking our numbers already. Whether they're good enough at this level remains to be seen. Can't wait to find out. But I have to say I'm not particularly looking at our full backs and feeling happy to kick off a Championship season. And we're a little light still in midfield and central defence. Plenty of time though to address all that.
Sorry Whitey but I cant see Bree being our RB next season... the lad as not enough pace. Infact if he cant find a niche in mid-field I fear another of the.... fall by the wayside.... lads that just can't live up to the hype..
jury still out for me on bree. obviously i hope i'm massively wrong and i know he's still very young. but for me he just looked too vulnerable and seemed very easy to go past. the quality of wingers in the champ will be a lot better than in L1. i can see him being toasted quite a bit. hope i'm wrong..
