...had we won the group I'd genuinely have fancied England's chances of getting to the final. As it stands, yet another quarter final exit looms.

Am I right in thinking, that the only way that we play Portugal in the next round, is if Portugal and Iceland have matching results tomorrow?

I honestly think England will beat France in the quarters if that's who we play, let's take on a team that wants to play football.Folk are getting influenced by these these group games!

I think it's only if they both win, but Portugal score more they win the group, or if they both draw Portugal need a higher scoring draw than Iceland. My head hurts.

I gave up after 5 minutes. Need to avoid Portugal IMO. Ronaldo will do us.

France are definitely beatable, but given home advantage you'd have to back them. If we get through to the semis, Germany have looked tame so far but they always seem to grow into tournaments. Spain aren't what they were four years ago but are still very tough. Italy have looked very classy so far and I think would beat us comfortably. If by some miracle we do get to the final, it's fair to say that having come through all that we'll have well deserved our crack at beating Wales in the final!

Portugal and Ronaldo have been utterly lame so far and I think we'd beat them. Plus we owe them for a couple of very jammy losses on penalties. I just don't see us getting very far after that.

The only way we can get Portugal is if they finish 2nd.

This happens if they draw with Hungary & Austria also draw with Iceland
    OR
Portugal beat Hungary & Iceland beat Hungary by a couple & leapfrog Portugal on goal difference.

If you were picking results on world rankings you'd expect Portugal to beat Hungary & Austria to beat Iceland which would mean we'd play Hungary in the next round.

I personally think we'll get Austria in the next round as they'll beat Iceland & go above Portugal who will draw with Hungary & end up 3rd.
