Because they didn't expect it to happen and now they're worried. Shoot me now. Regardless of what side you were on that is ******* stupid.
Like all the people who 'didn't know' and 'couldn't decide' so they voted leave. Surely if you don't have a burning reason to change you stay as you are right? Especially when we could always leave at any point but we may never be able to get back in.
My mate worked the election yesterday. Someone turned up to vote and didn't know his address. He had to go home to check and then came back. I reckon not knowing where you leave should automatically rule you out of any form of decision making beyond what to have for breakfast. BTW as gutted as I am EN I'm actually really pleased for you. You have been the most eloquent voice I've heard in this debate. If you could go and negotiate Brexit for us that would be great.
Not sure about that - if we had voted remain - there wouldnt be another leave vote for a long long time Agree though on undecideds - if you dont know what to do either vote for the status quo or abstain I actually thought the ballot paper should have had an abstain box so those who genuinely didnt know could still be included in the turnout
Haha, cheers pal. Don't think I'm articulate enough to do that - I'd end up getting all sweary... It would be foolish to not acknowledge there are risks, but I think the opportunities far outweigh them - only time will tell - there aren't absolute truths as much as either side would like us to believe. What really does need to happen is for Labour to take the opportunity to get serious about engaging with its traditional core vote that seems so at odds with it ad provide a real alternative to the Tories, one that appeals to a broad audience.
We were talking about this and in retrospect when they came up with the terms of the referendum it would have been a good idea that if the result either way (OK particularly leave) had been really close it would have triggered a final and deciding vote. In a way saying are you really sure, that would have been a chance for anybody who maybe thought they would put in a 'protest' vote under the belief that it wouldn't happen and the ones who couldn't be bothered to vote because they thought it would never happen to actually get off their arses and vote. The stupidity of some of our population never ceases to amaze me.
now was the time to go(at least in the eyes of 17,000,000 voters),no point saying that we could leave at anytime, that would never have happened and neither would have change.Voting to remain when undecided is just as bad as voting to leave while in that frame of mind and the same applies when we have a general election, many vote and havnt got a clue what they are voting for, they simply vote in either the 'my family always voted for these so i do or because they like the look of someone or indeed dislike the look of someone else..But on the flip side we have plenty of voters who voted in the way they thought was right, thats what democracy is for, ours is far from perfect, but at least we can put pen to paper. What i'd like in the future is to see PR implemented then we can stop the constant yo yoing between cons and labour,PR was one of the things i actually agreed with within the eu parliament, issues may take a bit more sorting out but at least we wouldnt have governments elected on less than a third of the vote.
I don't think they get it - Emily Thornberry this morning just couldn't accept the problem was them. Chuka made the right noises but is there enough will to move away from a neolib path ? They are already blaming Corbyn for losing Labour voters - they need to look back this past decade.
I don't think people really saw it as a voting for Labour/Conservative vote. A lot of people saw it as purely voting for in/out of the EU vote regardless of their political party. Obviously, you'd expect some of it to tie up as people in the same party should idealy have the same viewpoint but I don't think a vote for Leave was a vote against Labour per se.
Sorry I meant labour MP's are blaming Corbyn for failing to get the Labour vote onside for 'remain' - rather than going to those voters and talking to them about why they voted out - this arrogance that they are correct, it's just PR that let them down.
How so the leave campain was headed by right wing capitalists and privateers - Farage Gove and Johnson against more moderate capitalists ( Cameron etc) and socialists - Labour and SDP how you can say there is a mandate against capitalism and privatisation escapes me
I heard that some people voted 'out' because they are fed up of being in the relegation places at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Have to agree. That piece of **** Mandy making his mouth already. Was Corbyn supposed to match each Labour voter and supporter/member to the polling booth and check they voted remain. For me he took a reasonable position that reflected quite a few peoples position; In but needs change. I don't think he will see year out though.
However worrying the uncertainties of it were - there was something refreshing in voting and knowing for a change that the vote could make a difference. With the various safe seats up and down the country there is no motivation for some to get off their ar$e and vote. High turn out, engagement of the electorate - lessons could an should be learned from this style of voting.
