im selling my house, accepted an offer of £245k 6 weeks ago, geezer rings up this morning and only wants to pay £235k now. THANKS A FCUCKING BUNCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it took less than a second to tell him to no thanks. so back on the market, try to find a new buyer, a risk of the house im purchasing falling through, costing extra for my conveyancer, all great news hey.
I think we put too much pressure on ourselves when buying and selling property. When the wheels are turning you don't really want to stop them, especially when you have laid out money already on legal fees and survey fees and the like. At the risk of wasting a few hundred pounds I bet a lot of people go ahead to complete a purchase even though they may regret it shortly afterwards.
I might try that, there's a lovely house I've had my eye on for a while now... In all seriousness, that is rubbish! He might just be trying it on and be back, if not, I hope you find a new buyer soon.
Sorry it fell through. these thing happen in property transactions all the time. It happened to us 27 years ago. We also went through a period of gazundering People ringing up the day the contracts are to be exchanged i.e. moving day and offering several thousand less or the deal is off. Scotlandhas it right. Conract offer- acceptance-binding! None of this gazumping / gazundering (blackmail in my view) and pulling out at the last minute. Obviously, chains breaking down, unforeseen changes in personal circumstance could be written in but making offers and then pulling out should be illegal IMHO
Did he specifically say it was due to yesterday's democratic process....and if so what was his reasoning?
