The stayers are demanding another vote because 1: they lost 2: too many of us oldies voted 3: not enough young voters didn't 4: they know better than us 5: they lost
Whichever way people voted the people coming out of this looking the worst are the ones throwing their toys about, casting slurs on others who think differently, and rejecting a democratic decision. And they do so with an air of superiority. I find it staggering. Whilst I believe it may have been better to stay in, we simply do not know and now need to stake our place in the world and make Britain as great as it can be. We as the voting public can now, truly, vote in the people we think are best to run our country - potentially any mandate for a new conservative leader will call for a general election. So anyone worried that human rights, worker rights and women's rights will suddenly evaporate are, in my very humble opinion, naive. It's now Saturday. Let's have a nice weekend. Let's try not to slander our fellow citizens. Time to build barriers and move on together.
I attended Institute of Directors meeting several weeks ago when Pritti Patel the ' charming' business minister gave a talk she was very clear that employment rights would be the first bit of red tape chopped. So not naive at all. I agree with the rest though.
I was there she as very clear what those burdens were. Automatic entitlement to paid holidays. Automatic entitlement to limits on the number of hours you could work without a break. TUPE so you could flog more public services to the lowest bidder. Still with the 350 million quid a week we will be spending on the NHS I don't suppose it matters.
Not really my issue but you know you could vote in European elections too. When the Scots now inevitably leave us there will be little or no chance of ever voting them out.
We have 73 UK MEPs of differing political opinion (12 are UKIP). These have little influence when there's 751 MEPs.
There's now nearly 1 million people signed that petition for a rerun , I'm was a remain voter but think the vote should stand now no matter what the chaos it causes but we've set the bench mark for all other votes including strike ballots 50.1 % of people voting wins
I agree we have a majority, but for such an important subject I think the mandate needs to be greater and should have been set down as such at the start. 72% turnout is not a high proportion, and then only 52% voted Leave which equates to approx 37% of the eligible voting public.
