He might not be. But I've been at every game in every comp bar Blackpool and Southend this season and I can confidently say he's been one of our most consistent performers. Fairly solid if unspectacular, and lacking in the mistakes made recently by nyatanga and roberts in particular.
Yeah, I think he's oreyt, only a kid, not great every week, but he's not out of his depth in L1.. Weather he plays at a higher level is up to him, but ive no probs wi him...
For an 18 year old, he's looked very capable at left back to me. Underrated. One of our best performers, consistently so far this season. However, I have no idea how far he'll go in the game as it's his first full season of professional football, and as much as I like the lad and feel he's developing nicely, I haven't seen anything in him (as I did with Stones, Butterfield and Holgate) that makes me think 'wow'. He's just very steady, George. Which isn't a bad thing when he's playing with some ******* wobble headed teammates.
Turns out I bang on the money. Maybe certain posters will take me more seriously now rather than hound me out as a troll for simply giving my opinion. George Smith was never good enough for League One. He would struggle in League 2. I think the emergence of George Williams highlighted in particular how poor Smith was. Maybe some will have realised this after being able to see a good quality League One football plat rather than a non league one.
I for one will definitely take you more seriously now you've trawled through the board to bump a thread from November and crow about how you were right all along. It truly is the work of a great mind.
You're an utter hypocrite. Everyone has their own views & opinions about our players and that in itself is never an issue. You, however, made numerous posts criticising one of our young players over a few months and because others had an alternative opinion you then frequently questioned their footballing knowledge. The frequency of the posts attacking George Smith amounted to trolling, in my opinion, and I still believe that to be the case. However, when other posters then criticised a young lad, who was the tannoy announcer for the Bury game, you then objected to them airing their views on the lad's abilities, saying they shouldn't be allowed to say what they did, especially when taking into account the age of the announcer. So it was fine for you to criticise George Smith (your freedom of speech was brought up), but others don't have the same rights to voice their opinions, simply for having a different viewpoint to you. Personally, as I stated at the time, I didn't agree with the criticism of the young announcer. But for you of all people to object to those comments being aired, after posting derogatory comments about Smith on a number of occasions, is the height of hypocrisy. As for gloating & bragging that George has had to take a step back in his career in order to move forward in the future definitely shows you in your true colours.
No I'm not. I didnt riht George Smith off after his debut. The young lad at the Bury game was doing the job for the very first time. George Smith played enough times to show he was miles off being a League One footballer. I'm not gloating. Just pointing out I was right along with others about Smith not being god enough.
Like a lot of players has loads of promise ...........I think we just don't have the time and energy to helping & developing him as a player, which is a shame. Good luck fella.
So you still think Smith is good enough for League One despite falling 2 divisions to find a club? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How do you know he's not going to be good enough? I don't understand it. He's 19 years old. How old was Vardy when he turned to professional football? Ian Wright was 22 before he got deemed good enough for a contract. I know Smith is already in the professional game but it's just plain ignorance to write him off at this age.
Has he s****d your missus or your mum?! way tha goes on about him on here it's clearly a personal vendetta!
Yes. Falling down to that level, he now has the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of former team mates George Williams & Marc Roberts by being willing to take a step back for a short term in order to make positive strides with his career in the future.
I take it you haven't got a reply to BigLil then by completely ignoring him? Fantastic points he's made about Willo and Roberts.
They didn't a step back. They started at the bottom and worked their way up. George Smith has fallen a long way down the ladder and from what I've seen of him he doesn't have the natural ability to make it back to League One. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There's only one person who's angry and that's you!! Now you seem to be taking great delight in the fact George Smith has signed for a non league club!
He's dropped down 2 levels instead because of financial security apparently. Sounds good to me. He certainly has the ability to play league 2 football and potential to atleast player league one.
