We should have a great midfield this year. Signing Lloyd would be the icing on the cake. Cant wait for this lineup at Ipswich: Davies Scowen (Yiadom??) Mawson Roberts White Isgrove Moncur Hourihane Hammill Winnall Watkins
It's highly unlikely that we will sign Isgrove. Fletcher won't happen on permanent but we have a chance if it's on loan from man u
I can't see why isgrove is out of our reach unproven in the cHampton ship so will put other teams off. And hardly going to get a game for Southampton even another loan would be good.
Looking good but let's not get carried away. It's not too many pre-seasons ago that people on here were claiming that in Mellis, Perkins, and Dawson we had the best midfield in the Championship. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That has to be the priority, our centre midfield options are very limited. Hourihane, Scowen and Moncur (though suggestions he's further ahead than centre midfield) are now our only options. One suspension, one injury and we've huge problems. Think we need to see 1 or 2 centre midfielders added to the mix still.
I agree. Lets get Ledson signed up. This could be our most important transfer window in ages. We need to be on the ball 100% when it comes to who fits our squad not not just our starting 11
That looks a very strong 1st Division side - however, we will have to see how these players cope in the Championship I have my doubts about a few of them - and dare I say that Winnall is at the top of that list - he is a player that goes AWOL in some matches I've watched the play-off final a few times and he misses at least 2 sitters in that match He will be out of the team if that happens in the Championship I hope I'm wrong here - because it would be great if they all come good
Be brilliant signings if permenant for decent wage. However we all need to accept that this is a big step up for our whole team. Have any of them got any experience at championship level or higher other than White, Hammill and Nyatanga? Think we seriously need Long (or similar) in at CB, a RB, CM and Striker in with a bit of experience. Not has been journey men but lads that know what winning in champ is all about.
Little chance of signing Isgrove, sounds like he's wanting way too much money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
if that's the lineup for the opening match of the season I'd be disapointed and deeply concerned. If Scowen was made a monkey of by Leage 1 wingers imgagine what would happen in the Championship. Moncur and Hourihane provide little defensive cover for a defence with no experence at championship level. We need a right back so Scowen can go CM. We need a left back as White can not be relied upon to stay healthy and be good enough defensively (Rotherham deemed him not good enough). We need a CB, either to start alongside Mawson or provide cover. Roberts is decent against the big lumps you get in league 1 and below. He can head it away and beat them all day. I don't really want to seem him with Jack Grealish running at him or even Agbonlahor for that matter. We need a RW as there is not a lot of pace in that team (especially if Isgrove does not return). We need a striker or two as I fear Winnall's lack of pace and movement will be found out against better defenders. I don't doubt he will put chances away but he will likely get less chances and is not the type of striker to create something from nothing. any championship manager worth his salt could effectively game plan against that team, sadly. Play high up the pitch, knowing there is no pace to get in behind. Press Hourihane so he has no room to pick out a pass. Man mark Hammill, two on one if need be. That's why I'd love the Bradshaw signing, but I can't see it after what we splurged on Moncur. His pace and movement to pull defenders out of position is what we need. Leaving space for Moncur to pull strings and make late runs into the box. Queue the abuse...
Izzy will end up somewhere like Bristol City. Can't see us getting him, would be a major coup if we could though.
Why don't you just wait and see who else we bring in? It's a bit early for this - I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to make yourself look clever one we've got a squad together and the season has started.
Just regarding white and Rotherham. I don't think it was the case they deemed him.not good enough he had a clause in his contract which ment if he played 1 more game for them it triggered a clause which gave him another years contract. Rotherham didn't want this as he was a big earner and they were deep in relegation trouble.
Ok *****, I was just commenting on what the OP's thoughts were on this being the opening day lineup. Surely should should be jumping down his throat, not mine.
