No not the usual birth of a child or grandchild or someone from outer Mongolia who stuck a pin in a map.No none other than my brother. He went with me to Oakwell around 1977 ish I'd been going around 20 odd year by this time but he didn't get the urge to come back any time soon. This season just gone he went to a couple of games with his son in law and he's now hooked. So at the grand age of 62 hes bought his first ever season ticket.Welcome aboard brother.

so if you had been going 20 years in 1977

then you first went in 1957, so you must have been born around 1952 ish assuming you were 5 when first you went(which is a realistic age to first go..I may be wrong here). so he must have been around 12 ish when he went in 1977... making you about 65 ish. Therefore attending Oakwell for 60 years this season... you Sir get my total respect... I first went in 1961 aged 6.

First went in 1961 aged 7. Pre season friendly - Probables vs Possibles. Times have changed!

Recently converted a friend in Wisconsin to a Barnsley supporting Soccer fan, streams all our games now.

Accept my apology I should have put around 10 year previous.I actually started watching Barnsley in 1966 although my dad told me he took me to the Man.Utd match at Oakwell in 1963.I'm making myself older than I am it must be the tablets.

2 of my mates have bought season tickets for the first time ever.
One is a lad who has had little to no interest in football and the other is a lifelong Leeds fan!
Both have bought them cos their little lads have started to take an interest in football.

Don't want to be picky but Barnsley 0 Man Utd 4 was in 1964. I know because my Dad broke the bank to get two tickets at the back of the Centre Stand. The Reds played in blue shirts and Man Utd played in white shirts. George Best scored the first goal beating Bobby Williamson in The Reds goal from the edge of the penalty area - I can still see it now. Dennis Law scored at least one (maybe two) and I think (David ?) Hird got the other for Man Utd.
Just think how far we've come - we dreamt but had no realistic chance of beating Man Utd in those days yet we beat them in 1998 and were the last team to beat them in the F.A. Cup for almost three years !
