This looks the best Barnsley side for years and years

Even above promotion team to premier league ( that's on paper)

More excited about this season than ever before

i don't think i'm quite as confident as you. the question i keep asking myself - how many of the starting XI have proven championship experience? someone will probably correct me, but by my reckoning only adam hammill. not saying they're not championship standard, just that they've never played at this level. i think they might get a bit of a shock at the difference in standard

Aidy White and Lewin. Which in my opinion proves having experience at a higher level doesn't necessarily mean a better player. We have bags of talent.

I would like a couple of older heads with experience to pass on to the young uns. Kevin Long and perhaps a CM with a bit of grit and experience to help out Conor, Scowen and Moncur make the step up.

Definitely an exciting team coming together though! Well done BFC

I would have been more confident had we managed to sign Brownhill (not that I blame anyone for that). The partnership he formed with Hourihane was key to our success in my opinion. It's rare these days to find a midfield player who is just as comfortable in defence as they are in attack, who can tackle, pass, run with the ball and shoot. We had two. Two complete midfield players. And they were bigger, stronger, faster, fitter and more athletic than the opposition. And they wanted it more. They had more passion, more desire and a greater will to win.

I'm a Barnsley fan. I'm programmed through years of disappointment to think we're always going to lose. I never thought for a second we could lose at Wembley. Or against Walsall. Or even at Wigan. I didn't think it was possible. We were just so much better than anyone else in the league. If I ever had any doubts, all I had to do was look at the faces of Hourihane and Brownhill and I could see they wouldn't allow us to lose.

Biggest signing of the summer will be replacing Brownhill. I don't believe we've done that yet.

It's coming on nicely now is the squad I think. Defiantly got goals in it moncour scored more than 10 in a poor colchester side Bradshaw scored 20+ past few seasons along with hammill, Winnall and hourhine. Could do with some cover at CB and Isgrove back on loan. But yer am more than happy with what we have so far. Young hungry players it's going to be alot better than our last season I'm this league watching the likes of kennedy, frimpong, wise man, break Shea ect who didn't give a toss about the club or their careers. Credit to pat and hecky for bringing in the likes of moncour and Bradshaw can't wait for the season to start.

Promotion side especially when Hendrie brought in was full of experienced players st this level

We've got a team with very little exposure to this level but young enough to adapt quickly...and coupled with (hopefully) a positive approach to games will see us through...

Not counting my chickens, we definitely feel more progressive than we have done for a long time though.

A far better squad than we had last time we crawled out of this league.

At this moment you can,t say it,s better that's laughable, but it has potential certainly.

The only player from this team who would get in that team is Hammill. Next you'll be saying Davies is better than Watson.

Looks better than our last promotion side yes. Think only Howard would get in ahead of Hourihane IMO. Colgan was good but really prone to errors. Devaney wouldve been the closest behind Howard but if we get Izzy back then he'd be on the bench. I think its going to be a rollercoaster season with the target being survival in Cryne's mind, but I really think Hecky and the coaches have the ambition to take the club even further. With the likes of Bobby and co behind the scenes now. Its a good setup and exciting
