It doesn't matter who the challenger is, it matters that the electorate are given the opportunity to make a decision.
Mmm..... well can you not agree that I am not homophobic if I welcome equal rights under the law for all, yet object to the term marriage (which after all is the union of one man and one woman) being applied to the union of same sex couples?
You said there HAS to be an election, no there does NOT, what you mean is you don't agree with someone so it needs to change to your way cos your always right
So what about gay people who were against the principle of gay marriage; are they homophobic? Have a word. There is a gay DJ on LBC radio who was against it based on his religious views, the same reasons as many straight folk so I think you're being a little naive if you think homophobia is at the root of some peoples deeply held religious beliefs.
Religion is dangerous. Very very dangerous. It is an hiding place for all kinds of hateful people including homophobes.
and as i said at the outset, the electorate already did decide. In case you don't get it, The Conservatives were voted in power at the last general election with an outright majority.
It is also a framework of ideology that a lot of good people live their lives by and while I agree with you that religion is at the root of a lot of the world's problems I think you're completely wrong and very misguided if you think that everybody who was against gay marriage is homophobic. In fact I'd go as far as saying that this view is on the same bigotry scale as genuine homophobes.
Mmmm.......but you have not explained why a Tory M.P. would be OK with gay marriage for a soldier in this country but not abroad. Plus you haven't explained how laws work. You've just tried to tell me about one or two laws. Whether they're right or not I don't know. I do think it's right for you not to be able to have sex willy nilly wherever you like. But I ask again, why would anyone be bothered about whether this was at home or abroad? (btw there's a difference between sex and a legal union)
Yes they were, under totally different circumstances. People voted for a David Cameron led conservative government with a manifesto that was significantly different to what is being implemented now by a totally different person.
**** me.HE VOTED AGAINST THE ACT! If you think he's a hypocrite or doing so then go tell him that not me
Exactly Nicola's point. Brexit should mean Independence for Scotland who voted overwhelmingly to remain within the EU.
If you believe somebody does not deserve the same rights as you and you believe this because it says so in a book then why is that any better than believing it simply because you're a lovely person? Why are people allowed to hold views and hide behind what it says in a book?
People also voted for Brexit. Just a referendum. Whoever is in charge needs to deal with it. We knew there was going to be a vote. Every time the P.M. changes you do NOT get an election. If Cameron had stayed, would you want an election?
