had an enjoyable day actually, dropped the mrs and kid at her mates near newbury so had an hour or so's drive to WSM with an exit calm cd at top volume , whats not to like.

the game itself was typical pre season against lower league, first half we lined up with probably a second 11 bar yiadom and moncur , Tuton on the right wing and Jackson on the left....neither are wingers although jackson is quick! moncur had about 3 times as many touches of the ball as anyone else. we had plenty of the ball without troubling them too much bar a moncur curler the goalie clawed away watkins ran around lots and with moncur were our two best players.

second half they brought off their best defender (fortune) and we put our best attacker on (hammill). the game changed with some better passing, more chances and of course some goals. Payne scored a hat trick but in truth hardly touched the ball, he remined me of winnall actually in being generally rubbish but getting on the score sheet.... some of course might call it being in the right place at the right time! :)

hammill leathered one in after getting hacked down, he did his usual trick of getting an arse on and kicking the ball at the other player, cue handbags and arm waving, hourinhane nudged the free kick to him and hammill without really looking up smashed it in from 35 yards ,was actually quite amusing as he walked back still chuntering about the tackle! bradshaw looked alright. got a goal when the ball smashed him on the head from 3 yards out.

as for the rest i think the reason we might have let williams go is callum evans, started at left back even though he cant kick with his left foot and ended up at centre midfield, we might have a player here if he can replicate todays performance against better opposition. townsed in goal is a liability. seriously if davies gets injured someone take some gloves and volunteer. moncur will be fine alongside hourihane with scowen as back up i think. their goalie played really well it might have been 10 nil.

Exactly my thoughts! If he's scoring 20 goals a season when he's rubbish, I can't wait til he hits some form!
