To be honest I don't think anyone thought we could cherry pick. It simply comes down to economics, no one did trade with us as a charity. They did it because they made a profit in doing so. Does anyone really think that profitable business will cease because we are not part of the EU. Yes new trade agreements will need to be agreed that is what the 2 years negotiations are about, but to suggest it will cease is absolute rubbish.
it doesn't though does it. At all. The vast majority of economists and legal experts have routinely said what a terrible decision an exit would be. People have voted with their hearts, not their heads.
Depends who you listen to, there are numerous very successful millionaires / billionaires backed Brexit. Dyson, Tim Martin and numerous other top entrepreneurs say leaving is the best option. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...preneurs-tell-Britons-to-vote-for-Brexit.html http://www.cityam.com/243832/sir-james-dyson-eu-referendum-remain-would-act-self http://news.sky.com/story/wetherspoons-boss-on-brexit-doom-mongering-10500045
to be fair it's a futile debate. the vote has exposed what a divided nation we are. i'm past trying to sway people to be honest. 28% of the electorate didn't vote. over 13 million people. the majority was around 1.3 million. less than the amount of likes that britain first have on facebook. to suggest some kind of overwhelming majority, is crackers. i agree democracy has to be served. but all this 'out means out' is mental. i genuinely don't believe people even know what that means. it's just a buzz phrase that doesn't actually mean anything. like 'we want our country back'
We do agree that debate here is futile. what ever your believes are, no one on a forum will change your mind. How ever your remark of the non voters is equally futile. I was one of those, I registered but did not receive my postal vote in time. so if you use a proportional representation assuming the trend of voters would continue, it suggests that the majority would have been greater. I really don't want to get involved in that discussion as it is hypothetical lets just agree to disagree. What I will say is that when we hold a national referendum and the losers say we are not going to abide by it. it is the beginning of the end.
We'll end up with free movement with a few small provisos, like anyone with a criminal record being able to be refused, in return for being in the single market.
It appears the vote was nothing to do with economics. Subsequent analysis shows that people voted Brexit because they want to take us back to a medieval England. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-36803544 OK perhaps a bit provocative but still an interesting set of correlations.
And the de-legitimising of the brexit vote continues - the report only studies white voters. Here are some none white brexit supporters. They don't fit the popular narrative though... https://www.theguardian.com/comment...ers-brexit-stoke-on-trent-eu-referendum-video
Its a article on the beeb. Honestly expect owt else? My missus isnt white. She voted leave. As did her folks.
I think we will leave and we should. The democratic process was followed and it's what people voted for. It'll probably be an unmitigated disaster but people won't be in a position to moan about it or criticise the government as they did not follow relevant advice.
Its not clear which beeb article you mean. But if its the link I posted its about a piece of academic research. I know a number of academics thinking of legally challenging the BBC bias. Because the BBC has to be seen to show all sides to an argument, they have been covering academic studies which are pro leave in spite of the fact that 95% of British academics and their research is clearly showing how damaging this will be. No idea what the colour of your wife has to do with anything.
Flippin BBC..reporting what's going on. Quoting experts. What do we want from experts? Sick of hearing from them. Far better to get your information from The Sun. Plus there's always Page 3 to look at when your brain starts to hurt. Ffs.
This is a fairly unbiased factual account of the situation you are in. This is no "scare story", the facts can be checked and their truthfulness confirmed. I know certain people won't read, check or believe even facts they can check themselves, but here is your situation in a (rather big) nutshell.
