Was it not Reid and Disco on the wing?

Maybe something to do with dodgy Dawson red card.

Best - Has to be the Huddersfield game, 6-0 at half time & could easily been 10, good job we took the foot off 2nd half. Most complete attacking display I have seen at Oakwell.

Worst - Think the Game V fowls when Davey got the job was as bad as it gets.

Best - 3 down to Fulham in 7 minutes and came back to win 4-3

Worst - Birmingham game which has been mentioned above and Norwich game where we were relegated- gutless

Both already mentioned but best was the 7-1 game against Hudds (specifically the first half) and the worst was the 2-0 defeat to Norwich that relegated us. When a defiant performance was needed, we turned in one of the most spineless performances in recent history.

I would love to have seen JLWBL's Workington game though :)

I think the best was against Chelsea in the cup - everyone (even the usual hecklers) at work the next day said we deserved to win. And Chelsea were trying.

Worst for me was the Norwich (?) game that relegated us. The crowd at the start was up for a fight, and we rolled over like a puppy dog and offered nothing. Almost lost my faith.

Best: 7-1 against Huddersfield Town. Should have been our biggest win in our history with being 6-0 at half time. Shame we took foot off and drew the second half.

Worst: 0-0 home to part time Chester in the FA Cup. They trained twice a week (dunno if they still do), didn't tire and should have beat us by a similar scoreline to my best pick.

Best - Stoke at home in promotion season.

Worst - Relegation against Norwich or the defeat to Crewe last season.

Final game of the season in 2002, at home to Norwich City. We were relegated, after a 0-3 defeat in which we rolled over shamefully.

The total opposite of our "Battling Barnsley" tag. Lack of guts, effort, you name it. A day to forget.

One of the best? We beat Chelsea 4-0 with Steve Agnew rampant that day. Can't remember the year.

Best (trying to go left field here): December '97 2-0 home to Man City. A 2-0 thrashing, and a masterful example of how to close a game out under the astute (then) tactical managership of Danny (Mk I).

Worst: Too many to bitterly recall, but 1-1 against the Blunts last season was as bad as many I've seen. I recall actually being disappointed we'd snatched a draw because we'd played so abysmally. Football does funny things to you!

Think it might've been. Although i think Reid came later on that season. Davey turned it round though thankfully when he signed the unmitigated magical midfield maestro Mattis. What a player

I remember we beat Bristol City (4-1 I think) one Tuesday night when Anderson de Silva was in his pomp and thinking it couldn't get any better. It probably has many times before and since of course.
Ive been watching for too long to pick out a single worst game but the Wilson reign in recent times represents a sustained low. Took over a shiite team and made it shiter against a backdrop of high expectation.

    Too many highs.

Late 70s games under floodlights sort of blend into one but one against Grimsby stands out. Quite a few of the home games underHunter when we went on the long unbeaten do run were quite special. Chelsea 4nil in the cup. Man City at home 96/97, Blunts at home the same season. Stoke again in the promotion year. Man U and Spurs in the cup when we were in the prem but of all of them it's got to be the 7-1 against Ipswich a match so out of character with most of the displays under Hendrie that it's hard to see it as a Hendrie team.

The worst just as many to choose from Birmingham 5-0 was a low point and so was the home draw against Chester under Wilson as were Shrewsbury and Fleetwood under Johnson where it looked as if fans and players had stopped caring. In fact under Johnson there are almost too many to choose in both his dire runs so I will have go for the home defeat to QPR in the promotion season. More disappointing than terrible but I left feeling shattered.

A load of highs mentioned above, not least Man. City, Man. Utd, Chelsea and Huddersfield games but a less prominent one holds some resonance for me.

September 1984 we beat Wolves 5-1 in what, maybe inaccurately, I recall being Steve Agnew's debut and with David Geddis in his prime. This was about the third or fourth game in what turned out to be a 15 game unbeaten league run based on the 'Red Wall' defence of Joyce-Futcher-Jeffels-Law, a run during which both Uniteds of Leeds and Sheffield were put to the sword. I remember the last game of the run being a 3-3 draw at Plough Lane against Wimbledon, after which Geddis was sold and we fell away markedly. The second half of the season's only highlight being the 2-1 away FA cup win at Southampton, the night before the miners went back after the strike, preceded two days earlier by Ron Futcher's hat-trick and sending-off in the 5-3 defeat at Charlton.

Worst performance I've seen at Oakwell (by far) - G Willard, 28th March 1998.

Wasn't that the cup game around 89/90 where Gwyn Thomas was broken by one of their thugs and they were in the middle of a 20+ game unbeaten run?

Yep. Let's not start the conversation regarding whether Graham Roberts was the perpetrator or not!
