I really don't care where they came from. I'm not paying for amazing rises from non league.

I'll not be sat on a coach for HOURS and HOURS in a coupe of weeks thinking how good it was that our plucky players are now in the championship and non of the others travelling will either i'm sure.

What I'll be thinking during the trip down is how the players will perform for Barnsley in the championship and mostly on that day at Portman Road.

If you look at Bournemouth when they went up from the championship ,a lot of there team played for them when they were in the bottom division they had no problem making the step up.
A lot of our team I,m confident that they will adapt to this league no problems.

Really hope to be proved wrong but I think you might have a point here.

    Honestly not a clue.

When I get asked by non Barnsley fans I say survival. That's the minimum for most poeple I think.

If Heckingbottom get's it right I think we could do okay.

I'm hoping the squad isn't complete. Still think we need maybe 4/5. I'd love Ashley Fletcher back. I still don't think we need that all ground brute. Now he's clearly very good and if we can't get him then it's going to be hard to get someone of that ability.

Top class centre back (Ability wise at Championship level, for Conon, I don't care how much he's played) . I put that a lot over the last couple of months and I still think it apply's.

Centre mid. Can that be this guy on trial? Not sure. think we need that defensive centre mid. Scowen said it's something he did last night. Not sure he's got the discipline say away at St James park or Villa park or even at Oakwell.

You seemed to care where Callum Evans came from.

And Emmanual Frimpong, and Crowley, and Rothwell, and any player that started at a premier academy. It's laughable really.

I don't give a ****, I'm sick of people bad mouthing the people that got us into the championship. I get the whole "keep improving" thing. But there is an element of respect to show to the players that now let us look forward to playing "away at st James' park" as if it makes a blind bit of difference if Josh Scowen has the discipline to play there or on a Tuesday night at the Pirelli stadium. He, along with Roberts, Winnall et al have earnt the respect of every Barnsley supporter. Can they make the step up? Some will, some won't. But I'll ****ing cheer them on giving their all. And trust Hecky to do the right thing by the team.

i think you've nailed that. pretty much agree with everything you said there.

surely then, you recognise that the squad we have is about the best we can assemble at this stage, and that they're not world beaters? they will make a lot of mistakes this season and might lose more than they win, as they come up against players who are more experienced at champ level, or just better players.

i hope you'll give all our players a proper chance this season, and not just back certain ones.

It's Hemsworth and Nudger though. Nobody else is knocking them, not like that anyway.

    Hemsworth and Nudger.

    Salt and pinch.

The team that took us up last season were immense. For that they deserve a place in our hearts for many years to come and our gratitude. Yes, we need realism but there's no excuse for belittling them at every turn, they've done nothing to deserve that. Some will make the step up, some won't.
But I hope one thing above all....and that's that Sam Winnall scores a good tally of goals and puts a stop to the relentless drip drip of criticism from certain quarters.

We have different opinions and like you can use examples to put my idea's down I can yours. Lack of bettering ourselfs summer 06/07 and under Flitcroft. One got us in the brown stuff, and through a load of short term investment we got our but under Flitcroft we were't so lucky and got relegated with early 40 points.

And don't bother saying well you only say the players I don't like (it doesn't matter to me) because for me you get the best in for whatever position. Someone comes up better than Mawson or Bree or Daives then for me the club do everything they can to get them.

No love loyal in Football and I like that. I want players that will be here one year. I want players that are so good that they want off and big clubs want them. I want players that clubs put offers in for that Mr Cryne will say to the player, do you want to go to x,y or z club. I'd love them to do a Stones and sign a long term contract then leave months later if they can but I realise that's not always likely or possible.

So you want players to be off at the earliest opportunity? Clubs were sniffing around Roberts, Hourihane, Winnall last winter. If we'd let them all go do you think we'd be in the Championship now?

If last season taught us anything, it's not to prejudge players at whatever level they're playing, 46 games tells it's own story, and I was one who felt a number of our players(and the manager at the time) simply weren't up to League 1. We made two key changes for me, Hammill and Long. And after that, everyone stepped up.

I can't recall ever going into a season with such a feeling of blind optimism where the club is on completely the same wavelength as the supporters. I was sad to see G Williams leave but we are where we are. Our opinions of players always differ, it'd be dull in the pub if everyone agreed, but this is as good a championship squad as we've had for years, especially working within the financial restrictions we put on ourselves, in my opinion.

You are so far missing the point it's hilarious.

We all want the team to improve.

Some/Most can just appreciate what the team we currently have, have given to us. And show them the respect they deserve without needlessly slagging them off because we have an issue with anyone that the majority of fans choose to support the most. You have over the years continually slated Steele, Hassell, Winnall, Roberts to name just a few. Players who leave their heart on the pitch and showed the reds fans the desire and passion that we happily part with our hard earnt money to watch.

You may well want to cheer on Frimpong. By all means do so. But don't expect people to not call you out when you choose to focus bile and hatred on the players the majority see as their own.

you always can do better Marc or that's what you've got to think IMO at least.

3/4 years ago whenever Butland joined. Would I believe Barnsley Football club sign an England international on the way up even on loan? No, but they did.

For me he was the best in the champ at that time and Barnsley had him. That's why you pay money. Travel for hours and hours to watch shockingly bad sports. To see people like him.

Now i'm not been nasty or trying to cause an argument here. That's what I love.
Got to the King power schimicheal and butland come out. It pleased me that Barnsley had the better number. kept in close in that game. Think we scored but it was ruled out off side.

He scored 24 times and it didn't make a difference to some folk. Some folk like to have a player or two to criticise. No idea why, you'd have to ask them. But it makes them look a bit silly when said players are club legends/heroes. One lad on twitter spent last season knocking Winnall whenever he missed. He'd see the miss, get his phone out and tweet some criticism. More often than not, Sam went on to score in the same game. No tweets followed. Oldham springs to mind. He hit the post. Cue a critical tweet. Sam scored twice, we won 2-1. No tweets followed.

It's bizarre behaviour. Imagine 'supporting' a club but hoping your players fail. Extremely strange.

Conor Hourihane in the second half of last season was worth 10 Frimpongs on sheer desire and determination alone. He was absolutely superb as a leader.

It seems to me there's an element of singling out players everybody admires and picking fault to prove how superior their knowledge and insight in football is to everyone else.

Naew. I pay my money to follow and support my club, not any one particular player.
