This has been smouldering on for two or three year now but little reported in the UK what with Brexit etc. No-one in the UK media wanted to highlight the severe weaknesses within the Eurozone. Two or three regional banks have already gone down and there have been mass demonstrations in parts of Italy from people who have lost money. Again this was little reported outside of Italy. Even the national banks are exposed, as the report says, to bad debts further complicated by the way they are funded and the poor growth in Italy's economy. The ECB will no doubt be forced to step in at some point as Italy is one of the major economies in the EU and if that fails it will be nothing like Greece. Junckers et al are whistling past the graveyard when it comes to playing tough with the Brexit negotiations as the eurozone is on a knife edge at the moment.
