We've started well with some lovely moves. They've got away with two bad challenges so far, last one chopping Hammill down on a good run
Doesn't look great when we are in red I agree. Probably because the posh keeper is in luminous yellow.
We look good when we're in possession but leaving lots of gaps between the midfield and defence for Posh to use on the break.
Half time summary: Promising stuff all over the field with some excellent play from just about everyone. SSW is a bit of a worry though. He's hardly firing at all in this pre-season and you wonder if Bradshaw's arrival has put his nose out of joint a bit. Shame if it has because we have a pair of strikers there who got over 40 goals last season and it would be good if they could gel as a pair in the Championship. Kent has had a couple of good moments with the ball, but he isn't really seeing enough of it so far. Hammill is getting kicked just about every time he runs with the ball and has been down injured twice so far. Hope he gets through this unscathed. Scowen and Hourihane both playing well and spraying the ball around nicely. Lots of good tackles from both as well. Defence looks relatively untroubled and......wait for it.............Townsend is having a really good game! Couple of decent saves. Confident catching and coming out for the ball on the deck. Quick distribution of the ball when he gets it. He gets plenty of stick but, then again, so did Davies at the start. We are well worth a 1-0 lead and it could have been more. We need to be a bit more ruthless when near the 18 yard line. Good following of Reds fans there but the crowd is pretty sparse
The only thing that lets Winnall down is his first touch. He has that very rare knack of being very, very good at putting the ball in the back of the net on his left or right foot and finding corners with most of his shots. If he improved his first touch he would instantly be a much better player than he already is. The thing is, no matter how bad or good he is playing in any given match he always has that chance of scoring an important goal so do you take him off? Probably not.
Im hoping he's saving his goals for the league, as his finishing has been amature like today. At least we know he's capable of much better...
