Think "ludicrous' is a tad hyperbolic. In my opinion Watkins also deserves a good crack of games and he has looked much better in pre-season. Maybe that means dropping Bradshaw, but then he also scored 20 goals last season so by other's logic he also deserves a chance in the championship.
We withdrew the offer to Williams so he could go to a team offering first team football without them having to pay compo which is what he wanted.
On a seperate note, how fast and powerful has Watkins looked when he's played? He looks more than ready for this season. Glad he's back. I would be playing Marley and Sam at Ipswich, Marley is absolutely fantastic for Sam.
Re: Popcorn , get yer popcorn I'd cash in ASAP. He's got no pace & can't hold ball up at all. Think he will struggle in championship tbh
What I hate most about people arguing over SSW or any player for that matter, is saying he has 'no pace'. Games like FIFA have ruined everyones perception of the game cos thats all you need on FIFA, pace. It isn't everything. Yes he isn't the quickiest but he just has that good strikers instinct of being im the right place at the right time. He'll start at Ipswich.
No, i don't think training is. But i don't think friendlies are either. The only way we'll know is when he plays a few Chanpionship games. Odejayi banged then in preseason and did nothing come the season start. Works vise versa.
Two threads on here basically arguing same thing. Can't believe there is such a lack of belief in a guy who scored 20+ goals last season including his last that was by any comparison one of the classiest scored at Oakwell in my living memory. By contrast people would rather put faith in a lad who has scored a few goals in a number of friendlies which nobody will remember beyond next Saturday. It would be great if Payne turns out to be a real find for us but to put our immediate future on him just defies all logic.
Is anyone doing that though? From what I'm seeing, people are just saying they're impressed with Payne and that Sam needs to keep it up. I personally think that's a good thing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
