Game kicked off yesterday, as you can imagine if you weren't there, everyone was singing and a bit giddy after promotion. Less than a minute in I hear a shout behind me from a 50 odd year old thug, 'sit darn'. I replied explaining that we've just kicked off the new season and we're a bit excited and to give me chance and I will sit down. He then started abusing and threatening me, telling me if I don't sit down he's going to knock me out and that I've picked the wrong bloke to mess with. His wife was repeating something similar. The bloke next to me, sat with his 2 young children who I guessed were probably aged 6 and 8 stood up in my face. He told me he didn't want his kids listening to the bloke behind so I should sit down or he's going to hit me. I responded that it was the bloke behind he should be telling this to not me, I'd not threatened anyone here. I found it interesting that he chose to pick on an 11 stone 24 year old lad than the much bigger and older bloke behind him, very macho. Quite funny I thought a man who didn't want his kids to hear threatening language was then threatening someone himself, I told him this but it didn't seem to lighten his mood, but to be honest I'd had enough of both their **** by this point I couldn't have cared less if they'd have hit me I'd have been straight to the stewards then the police. It ended when my mate come in between and I moved up a seat. Very strange that in such a great atmosphere 2 people could be so fcking angry. Either they've got serious issues or I've got a proper smackable face. In the end though none of them laid a finger on me and I think they were all mouth picking on the scrawniest lad in the stand, don't think they expected me to stand my ground the numpties. This all finished before Winnall was subbed, not like I'd been stood up for half the game or owt. Other than that, a cracking day out and a brilliant atmosphere. The team performed to their best and it gave it a proper go. Ref and some naive defending cost us but we'll be reyt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We do have a bunch of knobs. But so does every club. In every sport. You sadly get cocks everywhere. But as you say, they tend to be all mouth. Ironic that someone saying they didn't want their kids to hear bad language is happy for his spawn to watch him threaten someone - probably too thick to see the irony in his behaviour.
This must be one of the most ironic threads ever. Just sit darn , Why the fek should you spoil everyone else's view out of your fekin selfishness . It's just a shame someone has to resort to threats before you take any notice of people around. Theres more to it than that , people can't pick their seats and may be unsteady on their feet and have to beg people like you to sit. Highlighted wrong thread should be to op
We scored through Connor, and I and the people with me got a load of water thrown over our backs from someone around 10 rows behind! A bit over exuberant we thought! Hope it was water lol!
We do have some dick heads who follow us as do every club. I had it at donny away and Chesterfield 2 season's back where my wife was queing for half time drinks and pissed up blokes thought it was okay to push infront of her like she wasnt in the Que. I wasn't in the Que but was watching and saw it all happen so walked over and got her back infront got to the point at the keepmoat where I thought it was going to kick off but didn't. The standing up is a funny on you saw a 50 year old thug with his wife kicked off with you because you was stood up standing up is okay if the whole stand is up but you are obstructing people's views so I can see why he may be un happy. Suppose they is still a way of asking you and been polite and if that fails then get angry.
What were you stood up for blocking everyone's view? I would have asked you to sit down once nicely and then had you ejected if you hadn't sat down.
Had to resort to threats? Give over. It was 30 seconds in I'd barely had chance to sit down. No need at all for threats of violence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
To be honest mate I'd barely had chance to sit down. If he'd have asked me I'd have sat straight down, I'm not one for standing up anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's the law makers and the enforces at the FA etc mostly to blame IMO. At one time of day the elderly or people unsteady on their feet could sit in stands among like-minded folks in comfort and confidence as those who wanted to stand could do so on the terraces. Now as the law states everyone must sit these people can't buy tickets to specified areas as there all supposed to be same but as law is flouted they are vulnerable to fick heads. Posted on here about a couple at Wembley who didn't see a single goal and missed a great deal of the match as they couldn't stay on their feet too long .
Had someone with a 'comedy' hat in front of me for the JPT final. I'm not by nature a violent person but I could have quite happily knocked the jester out of him. Standing up. Let's be honest we all do it on occasion and there is no real excuse for threats of violence. To defend people who threaten others is not right under any circumstances. Not defending a lack of consideration but to threaten violence is not forgivable.
Sorry but I'm on the side of people saying sit down. There's a seat, sit in it. If you were anywhere else but a football match you wouldn't stand up in front of people sat behind you. There was no need for them to be threatening but of course we weren't there so can't judge what your response/body language was or indeed what theirs was either. At Wembley there was a massive, well over 6ft and quite large guy a couple of rows in front of me who stood up for ages (annoyingly with his arse hanging out too, right at my eye level). People were shouting sit down at him for ages before he finally got the message. Even if we had all stood up too I wouldn't have been able to see past him as he was so tall and there were kids and elderly people behind me.
I had it last weekend with beer. Absolutely packed standing section and some guy decided to waste his beer by launching it in the air and soaking everybody.
Have to say I agree Marlon. You and me have had some contact over the years and I think we're pretty much on "the same page". I've got two really shitbad knees (footy injuries whilst playing for BFC Intermediates and Barnsley Boys) and having to stand means I can't see the game. Thusly I want the people in front of me to sit darn. There's no excuse for people being abusive however. On that point the lad is correct.....but ffs just sit the fyck down. Funny memory.......went to Grimsby with my old man (God rest his soul) some years ago and some ******** wouldn't sit down during the game. My dad hooked him round his neck with his walking stick and pulled him down into his seat. Classic!
Fair play if that's correct . A lot of people are content to stand up choose who is behind them . Dint agree with threats but it seems some won't comply with polite requests and unless they are threatened and the threatner is formidable they are quite content to fek em.
I don't mind standing to be honest some away games last season I stood up all game i made sure I wasn't obstructing anyone else's view. For example walsall away I was 2nd row from back with no one behind me. I stood up nearly all game. But I realise if the away end is packed and people around me are sat I cannot stan up. Just about having some consideration for others.
