Technically yes but there is a huge difference between jumping up to celebrate a goal and blocking somebody's view for the entirety of the match. Don't pretend that you don't understand that because you do
Of course I know there's a difference. I'm pointing out that it isn't as black and white as you/others are making it out to be. Getting to your feet to cheer a goal Getting to you feet in excitement at a chance Getting to your feet to clap substitues off Getting to your feet to go for a piss/pie Getting to your feet to applaud a great save Standing and singing on the back row as there's nobody behind you I'm sure all acceptable in 99% of people's eyes but still probably breaking the rules. How far it extends is a matter of opinion, not whether or not it's breaking the rules as we've already established that the above probably already are. I'd argue standing on the second or third to back row when it's unallocated seating so you can sing and support the team is also acceptable. Here there's the opportunity for others to choose to not sit behind you. However you're arguing that everyone should sit down in case someone wants to sit in an elevated position which happens to be behind someone who's intending to stand. I just don't agree with that and common sense should be a factor.
This is a long thread for what is to me a simple matter. The original poster either was going to sit down or he wasn't. If he did not sit down upon kick off then he should have. To not do so is to be ignorant or selfish. And worthy of abuse if he persists in blocking the view of others. Not violence, but if he stands up when all around are seated, he requires physical removal. If he was just late in taking his seat, and was about to, then to suffer threats/abuse is wrong. The bloke who complained may well have thought that he was to suffer yet another game where idiots stand up indefinitely without a thought for those behind.
I was sat 3 rows further back and nearer the corner flag so I saw all of this first hand Not surprisingly my account of the "incident" differs from the poster Him standing up made others in front and to the right of me stand up which affected my view too. The guys having a pop at wellsie were only asking him to sit down so that we could all enjoy the action. Anyone else would have sat down but no, he continued to stand and en flamed the situation "some of our fans are proper arseholes" - if that cap fits!!! COYR
Have experienced this first hand. Going back probably 10 years I had problems with Rheumatoid Arthritis which meant if was often difficult to stand for long periods (or even at all before a cocktail of steroids and painkillers in the morning). I can certainly think of times when I got stuck behind those determined to stand up. ****ing annoying tbh especially when they are near the front. I think away sections would really benefit from sections of safe standing for this reason.
I was sat in front of the fella who "only asked him to sit down" as you put it . Trust me I heard every word which came from his vile mouth - it was definitely not as you put it! What did you hear 3 rows further back and Near the corner flag ? Owt?
nope didn't hear a word Irrespective of what was said he should have sat down. He was blocking the view of fellow reds fans and showing total disrespect for us all. I don't condone any aggressive act but anyone else would have sat down when asked. He didn't and fuelled the situation. We were all excited at the prospect of watching our lads perform but you have to consider others surely? COYR
Wanna sit you should make way to front of stand. If want to make noise and stand head to back. Not sure if this can be done at box office end
Seems a bit of a leap from I witnessed it all to I didn't hear a word. Violence and intimidation are not to be defended. That's not to defend someone for not being polite enough to sit down so please don't interpret it as such.
You're missing the point - he was never asked to sit down - he was told in an overly aggressive extremely rude manner, so much so he got my back up as soon as I heard him shout! I don' t agree that irrespective of what was said he should have sat down - there's a non-aggressive way of asking but he obviously didn't have the manners or IQ to do so.
So you act like a ****, get treated and spoken to like a ****, cry about it on the internet and make yourself look an even bigger ****? When will this injustice end? #prayforwellsie
