All in all I think most people will be dissapointed with that and rightly so they should, we were exposed in some areas and Championship quality players will love playing against us if we continue with mistakes, but there was some good moments as well especially the 1st half. I thought I'd do some player ratings anyway for people that weren't there or anyone that could be bothered to read:

Davies 6: Stupid Mistake for their 1st and looked at bit slow to react to another shot a minute or two later but overall not too bad claimed everything and his distribution was good and made a good save at the feet of their No10 later in the game

Bree 6: Was very good 1st half defending and attacking in equal measure showed alot of energy and was a threat on the right wained abit in the 2nd half but a solid performance in general

Roberts 7: Best of the defence by along way made 3/4 excellent challenges and won 99% of the headers (even if one did lead to their 1st), but a little bit careless on the ball sometimes and not alot of his long balls connected until Payne came on.

Mawson 5: 1 minute looked assured and confident the next was flapping around trying to skill their strikers, needs to focus on the basics sometimes but we all know how good he can be and I'm sure he can step up to the Champ

White 6: I swear Hammill is allergic to passing to him got himself in great positions on the wing and defended well but is still not closing down crosses and allowed the cross the 1st to get into box, although Hammill rarely tracked back to help

Watkins 7: Wins the ball, creates space, wins the ball back, good touch and has some good runs, but he could have won the game for us late on in normal time and instead flicked it into the Ponty from 8 yards however did show some good link up play with Payne when he came on

Scowen 9: Phenomanal again has an unbelievalble engine and I only saw one miss placed pass all game which for the amount of possession he had was fantastic

Hourihane 7: Defended in the middle of the park and his passing was on point but refused to pull the trigger too much and sometimes over complicates things still fantastic (would have given him same as Scowen for 1st half)

Hammill 4: Worst game in a Barnsley shirt, he was greedy when shouldn't have been tried to be fancy when it wasn't needed and wasted some good opportunities trying to go for glory

Moncur 5: Looked promising but gave the ball away too much and didn't do enough in possession will improve but too early to play 4-4-1-1 yet especially in the Champ. Also his hair is awful it's luminous it's that blond :D

Bradshaw 5: Not really his fault for most of it was asked to win headers against two dirty CB's and was pretty much marked out the game

    Subs;

Kent 5: Very quick and tricky but not much end product and too lightweight also refused to put a cross in during some good opportunites

Payne 8: Won headers, looked quick and linked up well with Watkins didn't get too many opportunities in box though but seems an intelligent player who knows were to run

Yiadom 6: Average not really much to do as they just lumped it forward looks quick but needs to work on defending

Overall no one was really terrible just a poor team performance and we have to stop wasting chances and then standing there as they run at us we'll get punished in the Champ, also can't wait to sign this magical 12th man who we keep crossing to either I can never see him but assume he's there. Still excited about Saturday and the season just need to be more clinical and less naive and we'll be safe.

    Seriously these ratings are terrible.

Roberts had clearly one of his worst games in a Barnsley shirt to date.

We was 100% our worst defender tonight. Him and Davies had stinkers.

Mawson was so much better than Roberts tonight.

    Scowen no where near a 9 probably a 7.

Hammill not a 4 again more like a 7 another assist and set up so many more chances.

Only ratings I agree on are Moncur and Bradshaw.

How you can give Davies and Roberts a higher rating than Mawson or Hammill is crazy.

I thought Davies was poor and both Roberts and Mawson unimpressive.

No one in that game (on either side) would score more than a 7 it was more like a friendly than a competitive match for the main. Scowen was the best of a bad bunch he would scrape a 7. I thought Hammill was well Hammill. Great and frustrating in equal measure.

Agree Scowen and Roberts had good games Greeny, but I'd have to downgrade Davies. He had precious little to do but did it very badly. He has to be given a chance due to his performances since the turn of the year, but the first goal would have embarrassed a sunday league player, he parried another shot which could have led to another and almost got caught out p****g about in front of their striker. Our attack looks powder puff at the moment, and I seriously fear for us on Saturday. Kevin Long, anyone?

Roberts saved Mawson on two seperate occasions and made a brilliant challenge on the edge of the box in the 2nd half

Scowen wears number 6 mate have you spotted him the one that runs around wins pretty much everything and is generally one of the best players on the team.

He was extremely wasteful, ball greedy, didn't track back and was well of his normally fantastic self how you can give him a 7 for giving the ball and running into their left back is astounding

What would you have given everyone then?

I get your point he didn't look his normal assured self and that own goal was utterly embarrasing but I don't think he was that bad but I would have liked to see Townsend given a run out tonight so he could prove me and others wrong about his credentials

So other than Hammill and Mawson weren't that far apart on most players so are my ratings really as terrible as you claim?

No chance. Hecko clearly placed blame at feet of Payne for 2nd goal.

Because you slated Hammill despite us having scored no goals if it weren't for him.

You bigged Roberts up as having a great game when he definitely didn't. I've also seen him place worse against Rochdale. He put us in trouble with terrible distribution a few times tonight aswell as contributing to the Davies own goal.

You over exaggerated Scowens game to a 9/10.

You also made out Mawson had a stinker when he was better than Roberts.

Hammill was very average today and it didn't matter whether we scored or not we lost 2-1 so frankly the 1 means absolutely nothing the normal Hammill would have created three or four game winning chances (whether we would have scored them is a different matter) and also contributed alot more to the team effort.

Mawson gave the ball away in the 1st ten minutes and Roberts saved him by tackling their player right on the edge of the box, Mawson also gave the ball away when he ran into midfield, I never said he played a stinker it was just below average of his normal game. I've even mentioned where Roberts heavily contributed to the own goal but what else could he have done his man would have headed it in anyway if he hadn't got to it.

I'm struggling to see where you've mentioned what Scowen did wrong and he was also there to put in Hammill's cross otherwise we wouldn't have had a goal at all.

He scored, he won alot of his aerial challenges against a much bigger player in John Joe-O'Toole, he broke up alot of opposition attacks, he barely gave the ball away, passed the ball around well, looked to get forward and also ran his blood to water as he does every week without complaint. But then again it's my opinion, I don't pick them team, I don't own the club and I'm certainly not good enough to play but I do appreciate a good performance which Scowen had tonight

Dominated the midfield. Run the game from the middle of the park. Created more chances. Made more successful tackles. Scored another goal. Had better pass completion. Got an assist. Won us the game.

If he could do all that every game he certainly wouldn't be playing for us not if your expecting him to win the game singlehandedly but it's ok I've heard were signing the love child of Viera, Iniesta and Ronaldinho next week so you should get your wish
