He didn't look the same player as last season to me, but I may have been reading something in to it that wasn't there as a friend had heard he was interested in a move away.
Sounds like it. Looks like Wolves have shown an interest and he wants off. At least if he's requested a move we don't pay his contract up. Also if it's wolves I'd be saying £3m+20% sell on. Get on the blower and get Kevin Long in ASAP.
I'd agree with that kind of fee........ Hoping it's not true but if he wants away I can't see any point in keeping him against his wishes.
Sorry, but the only thing indicating he has handed in a request is a wordpress article which holds no credibility. Don't see how people have deduced that there is some truth in these rumours at this stage.
I guess that given the clubs strategy is to find young, hungry players who will help us achieve something and increase their market value for selling on. Alfie would fit that mold perfectly if the right price lands on the table. Players will sign for BFC on this basis knowing its a great opportunity for them to progress in future whilst committing to the here and now at signing. I guess that's the real sticking point is value and what contractually we are obliged to do at certain offer levels.. Is he worth 2M or 5M. Personally in todays market I would hold out for £3M+ but don't think we would get £5M. Whatever it is it needs to happen sooner than later. We would need to replace during the window.
It's a barnsley fc chat board so I put on something about barnsley fc to discuss...... That's all it is! Nobody apart from Alfie his agent and the club should know what's happening.
Aye that's all reyt and good til some money hungry ****** wants away during a season. Couldn't hav done this and let us do pre season with someone that's not a bell? Put him in reserves let him rot the ungrateful Nob. same old Barnsley no backbone. Same with butter field vas te shackles and that same story money before loyalty or integrity.
Amazes me how much people believe what they read, especially from a random persons blog or Twitter comment. I can understand Mawson maybe wanting to go back down south, his stock is probably as high as it's ever going to be with us. If he wants away then cash in, be disappointed not to get £2m+ for him though, if he was playing for someone like Peterborough who always seem to do well with fees he'd probably go for 6 or 7m but clubs don't make those kind of offers for Barnsley players. What a bizzare post. All that swearing and name calling against a still current Red? But wait, it's good to shout and swear all the time. Makes you look a proper hard man.
Just hit ignore pal. The guy is the new resident moron! Sooner people just ignore his pathetic ramblings the better. Actually feel a bit sorry for him. Must be something very wrong in his life.
Apologies, not having a go! I was just commenting on people stating that there appears to be some truth on it based on one rumour from an unreliable source. And also responding to your original question which asks if people thought there was any truth in the rumour. Think Alfie could end up leaving this summer if we get a reasonable offer. Just hope it's not on August 31st!
A few people who do tend to know a bit behind the scenes have said he isn't happy and wants a move away. Whether that is fuelling these rumours or whether the rumours are fueling any potential desire to move away I'm not sure. Decent player, great potential. If he wants to stay he stays. If he wants to go lets get best price we can for him.
Good luck to him if the club receives an offer it can't refuse and he progresses his career - win-win situation. However, he would only realistically look at another championship club. Clubs are often touted around just because either the player's agent is playing games, or because that club's scouts have been seen sniffing around, but that it world's away from a definitive offer being received by the club. If Newcastle offered £5 million, we would probably let him go, or Wolves, come to that, but it looks to be pie in the sky at the moment. Alfie has not proved himself at championship level and, if his performances for us were to suffer, he might end up looking down at league one again, whether with us, or another team. his only task for us and himself at the moment is to prove himself a championship player. That
I actually think he is a decent bloke who has done a lot for the BFC community, done his job well, and is ambitious
