Superb performance today. He'd have been my man of the match had it not been for a sensational performance from Conor.
I know I probably won't be in the majority here but I think he's the better defender out of the two. So powerful in the air and on the ground, like Cod Eye said, he's a ball magnet when it comes in the box.
He's won as good as every aerial challenge against Chris Martin, Darren Bent, Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick. Head like a rock.
He's come on so much and developed from a promising big defender to an accomplished, solid, dependable dare I say classy centre half. His early problems on the deck seem to have been erased and whilst his distribution could still improve, I'm confident with him dealing with any ball at the moment. Great to see a local lad perform so well. His age probably helps actually, at 26 he's older than most who make their football league debuts but that has allowed him to develop physically and use his 6/7 years of non-league football for experience. Great player.
He's the McCarthy to Evans, Davis to De Zeeuw. Both compliment each other perfectly with different attributes. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk
Yep, Mick McCarthy comes to mind & I saw him play all his matches. Today was special. Hourihane amazing. 2-0 ...
I agree that Mawson is the better ball player. Goal scoring ball playing CBs aren't easy to find, which is why he should be worth alot of money. Roberts is better at the ugly stuff though like getting a foot/head into a challenge, holding his ground ect. Plus his throw ins. They work well together because they have an understanding of what eachother can do.
I think Roberts is a fantastic centre half now, and a cracking lad too(he went out of his way to get ar young un a ball signed by the team to raffle off at her school fair). I just hope people remember what he's capable of if he is given a hard time by one of the mega million pound attacks we will come up against. It's only natural that he has a few bad games at this level... Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
