I think that all of you who have made derogatory comments regarding Paul Hart, should read Rick Holden's book. Just that.
Ridsdale said that we were getting one of the best young managers around before he appointed Paul Hart, but I was always convinced that he meant Steve Cotterill, who was available at that stage. I think that he only went for Paul Hart when he suddenly became available from Forest and I think that Paul Hart moved too quickly after his depressing time at Forest. He underachieved with one of the best squads in the division, including the likes of McPhail and Chopra. We virtually bought a new team at the start of that season. I think that Paul Hart is a gifted coach and did good work with Leeds' youngsters, as well as elsewhere, but he underachieved in management and that was nowhere more obvious that with us. 'We've got Nardiello. Paul Hart won't play him though. Bring him on and score a goal. Daniel Nardiello.' I always wonder why he didn't bring him on more often.
I remember yet another miserable depressing defeat at Hillsborough the night before he left. That summarised his tenure at BFC, sadly. I think I prefer Heckingbottom, by a long chalk !
Everything above. Nice bloke. Gudjon should have been given more time, but that was a time the lunatics were in charge of the asylum. Thank goodness for Patrick Cryne.
Yes, Patrick appointed Hart. I don't think he'd have sacked Gudjon though. There were really amateur and poor decisions made in the Doyle /Arsewipe era. Hart had a great record of developing players & he signed Colgan, Reid & McPhail. He just wasn't a manager.
