    It's just an opinion, I'm not saying I'm right or wrong. I just don't get it, it genuinely makes me cringe, some middle aged bloke calling a footballer he hardly knows by his nickname or "skipper"

    I wouldn't call him skipper I'd call him Conor. But the players call him skipper or skip so if you was around it enough or saw it on social media it would catch.

    Names like Robbo, Hecky, Longy and Izzy just come naturally though.

    When you kick every ball with them and have BFC in your blood you have enough of a connection with them to use their nickname imo.
