Not just about Rafiq. A lot of the players today have struggled. It happens. They need to keep going and try and win. Rashid's struggled at times and hes the best English spinner around
Brilliant win that and a dodgy LBW to win it. Who cares! Just goes to show that having eight current or ex-England players in your team doesn't make things certain. We got there, just, and that's another one day semi final to play in.
Christ this forum is as bad as the white rose forum! not every bowler in every game is going to go well. We couldn't win a game in white ball cricket 3 months ago look where we are now!!
He was T20 captain not long since, had 2 years away and come back to be recently capped by the first team and mentioned by selectors who pick England performance squads. Il back Jason gillespies opinion here I think.
Rafiq didn't bowl well tonight but he's been an instrumental part of getting us to the T20 semis. The good thing about Yorkshire's one day attack is that it covers just about all bases and so if someone's having an off day the others seem to be able to compensate. Real shame that it looks like we'll be decimated for the semis. It's scandalous the way they **** us about with the scheduling. It's the equivalent of the FA putting an England game on the same day as the FA Cup semis.
He was the catalyst for our success in T20. Wouldn't be surprised if he was picked for the T20I squad for Pakistan game Off-night for him tonight but as Hemsworth says, everyone has off nights. Rashid was terrible at the start of the season in white ball cricket; against Birmingham and Notts Plunkett had figures of about 0-30 in both games. Against Durham Bresnan bowled one over for 17. Need I go on? Terrific stuff again tonight. ECB will probably select Lyth for ODIs now just to put a tin lid on it!
Yes, I saw that Bresnan over go for 17. The beauty of one day cricket, especially the T20s, is that any batsman with a good eye can smash the ball out of the ground, no matter how good the bowler is. Those that have the confidence to take a couple of paces down the pitch can totally nullify what could be a great ball. On the other hand they can miss it, get stumped and look a complete lemon.
