Only because thats the only pair of footwear you have and bet you couldnt do without the L & R labels either.
The Curry Mahal was magnificent. I reckon I consumed about double the calories I burnt on the walk! Thanks for the lift home, much appreciated.
Some screen shots of the GPS data here. From chatting to others on the walk who were also using GPS apps, it was clear that there were some discrepancies between different systems/phones, even though we were all doing the same route. I like mine, as it tends to over estimate, so my results are more impressive! The overall distance was 30.3 km, just short of 19 miles, but that included trips to the bar in both pubs! The average speed was about 2.2mph but that included the rest stops and the 2 pub breaks - from the speed graph you can see a better average speed was about 6km/h or 3.75mph.
Re: To everyone involved in the walk to Huddersfield - Money raised update Up to press, the donations received amount to just over £1100. We do have a few pledges of other donations/ sponsorship, so hopeful of taking it past £1500. Thanks to everyone who walked, helped, or donated. There are plenty of photos and a report on the DSY website, and of course on Facebook/ Twitter http://disabilitysportyorkshire.org/reds-fans-complete-walk-aid-dsy/ Not to late to donate. http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/dsy
That's very strange, there's no way that was 14 miles. Even a crow would have to fly further than that to get from Oakwell to Huddersfield!
I just re-traced it using the Garmin app and it comes to 17.8. I'm guessing my device, being stuck at the bottom of my bag, didn't respond to certain bits and calculate them. Definitely more than 14.
So Barnsley's abart 2 metres higher than Uddersfeeled? Sounds abart reight. Interesting that you took longer walking downhill than uphill over virtually identical distances. Assume the pubs were at the tops of hills?
