Having received £5m I thought we would have bought players to strengthen the team. Look like squad fillers apart from Armstrong. Like to know about why Moncur has left without a league game to his name.
We were never going to spend the 5 million on players, we don't know what these new lads are like, we've got 2 players in most positions and others who can cover those positions. Yes we didn't get Isgrove back but thats about all that most can realistically complain about
He played against Ipswich. Really productive window. Armstrong, Morsy and Jackson aren't squad fillers there competing for first team places. Janko loves the pressing game he suits is perfectly. The left back Cole was much needed! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And they bloody are. Can't remember a deadline day as good as this for us and Twitter and Facebook are full of people bairning about Isgrove.
Me too. Bit underwhelmed is my first thought but really pleased we kept everyone except Alfie. That's a massive plus but hoped for more permanent deals but I suppose we can send them back if they are rubbish. Time will tell. Hope we get an explanation re Moncur, we still look light in central midfield to me.
The club want him to play regular football to keep fit and develop, and playing U21s and a few mins off the bench isn't going to do that. That's the answer.
I'm not sure what people were expecting. We've strengthened the squad, we have good cover in all positions. We haven't broken the bank and have money available for the January window. Isgrove isn't the be all and end all and in January will cost half what he would now, same with Ariyibi. It's a shame about Mawson but that fee has made us much stronger as a club. We have a cracking team that's 3rd in the League! Let's all be a bit more positive!
Overall I'm happy but I'm concerned about central midfield. Finishing the transfer window with just Hourihane, Scowen & Morsy seems risky to me. Anyone know if we've got any trialists at the club who can play there? Could do with another Sessi? Or maybe his injuries not as bad as first feared
i think Cole will take up Mawsons place with Angus being cover for now if White picks up an injury and Cole can drop the LB.
I have quite the opposite view and glad we haven't paniced and paid millions out on players. Our first XI have shown that they are capable at this level, but if injuries hit it is clear that we needed to add strength in depth especially in the defence with Alfie departing. Adam Jackson, Sam Morsey, Cole Kpekawa and Sady Janko all have good pedigree, fit the BFC model and plug the gaps needed. I look forward to seeing what they have to offer. Likewise young Angus did an admirable job stepping into at the weekend to replace Alf. Regarding Strikers. Consider that we now have 3 of the top 5 goalscorers from L1 last season in our ranks with Winnall, Bradshaw and now Armstrong. Who all scored 20+ goals. Add to that Watkins and Payne who will chip in with the goals, and other squad players out on loan gaining vital development experience e.g. Moncur, Tuton and Jackson. In my time as a red I cannot remember us ever having so talent in attack and competition for places. We've always had 1 lad capable of 20goals a season, plus another 2 hardworking forwards who would add 8-10 per season. And the midfield looks strong. The best news IMHO is that Hourihane is still a red! Him an Scowen have formed a formidable partnership in the middle complimented by the pace and creativity of Hammill and Kent on the wings. Its tough on Moncur but the lad will benefit from regular games whilst out on loan and hopefully he will come back in January fired up ready to fight for his place. Morsey and Janko step in to offer cover and add healthy competition. I am surprised we didn't add a keeper, but players we have added I feel will excite and help us push for mid table finish. Especially Armstong, wow didn't see that coming. Well done all at BFC! COYR
