A few of you will remember me banging on about how Moncur was not a midfielder and would never play there for Barnsley, well **** me sideways, I didn't think he wouldn't play in any position at all.

From what I understand, he's been loaned out purely for match sharpness, and is very much in our long-term plans.

Cryne put on his Facebook page that Moncur is in our long term plans and this loan move is simply to gain fitness & confidence.

He cannot get into the team due to the form of Hourihane.

I'd be gobsmacked if Moncur doesn't get into our team eventually. I think it's a very good move for him. Peterborough should be challenging the play-offs in league 1, and it'll help him get match practice playing in a good side.

It does seem puzzling to let him go at the moment but let's be reyt, Conor (sadly) ain't gonna be with us forever and Moncur has a 3 year contract.

I reckon he's in the long term plans, but doesn't look like getting a sniff at the minute.

Do we know if he can be recalled from the loan? If so that makes sense because if anything happens to Conor then we can call him back and he will be match fit.

Personally I think it's a wise move, the team we have loaned him to play good flowing attacking football so it kind of makes sense really......

Don't get the fuss this has caused at all. We've signed a young player on a 3 year contract. This loan is part of his development. He'll be back hopefully as a fitter, better player and ready to step in when needed

I believe we can't recall loans that are only until January. For season-long loans there is an option to recall in January

We have to remember he was playing for a relegated L1 side. And though he was obviously doing his job properly, we are a very different squad in terms of quality and progress. I think it's a sensible, if surprising move. Taking a step back to go forwards, a bit like we did as a club. If he does well at Posh, we may have the choice of selling him.
