Can we recall Moncur at any time?

Are there any restrictions? For example if Hourihane and Scowen were to get injured in the same game, could we easily recall Moncur and plonk him in the team? Or is is restricted to certain windows etc?

No you're not allowed to anymore. Only a season long loan can be recalled and even then it's only when the window is open again in january

Methinks he might be on his way out of the club come Jan. Has Heckingbottom come out and explained the decision behind it anywhere?

I'm not sure he will. Moncur needs to be playing games. There isn't a place in the side for him at present, but he will come back from Peterborough with more match practice.

I don't think that we'd sign a player for half a million on a long term contract (isn't it 3 years?) and then get shut without actually seeing him play a competitive game.

Moncur has gave a interview on radio , sounds like he is keen on a transfer to Peterborough . Maybe not settled in area or settled in to team ethos

Must be summat behind scenes on this one. Chasing a player, shelling out 500k and offloading without a kick? I'd understand it more if he'd started games and been poor. Or even if he'd come on as sub and been poor. But I've not seen either and we're now possibly a bit light in the middle. If nothing has gone on, it's a poor signing for me.

Given what was said on Radio Sheffield this may well be the first step in a permanent move.

It would be a bit disappointing if so, but surely we should get our initial outlay back?

According to Hecky in the Chronicle, both Moncur and his Dad were pressing for him to be given a start. Hecky says "that has to be earned", implying that Moncur has been behind others in training. He says he'd have preferred to keep him but he can't guarantee him a start unless something else happens.

    Good for Hecky, I say.

We hold all the aces so we can call the terms and as a minimum we should be getting back every penny he has cost.

Hecky started him in the cup game, gave Moncur the pivotal role between midfield and attack, the number 10 position as people like to call it, which I've read is supposed to be his favourite position. He couldn't do it. He got plenty of the ball but he lost it almost every time, either miscontrolling it or giving it away. For me, his inclusion in the team and the change of formation that forced was the primary reason we lost the match. It's only one game, I'm sure he can play a lot better than that, but you don't get selected if you don't perform when given the chance. The others have performed, so they're ahead of him. It's as simple as that for me. He should be getting his head down and working hard in training so as to make Hecky believe he deserves another chance.

In hindsight, after just a handful of games, this seems all a bit strange.

Either we aimed to convert him to play in a 4 man midfield, or we had a contingency to play a 5 man midfield.

He's not going to displace any of the midfield at present and our barnstorming use of a high intensity 4-4-2 means there's minimal chance of changing shape, especially when you look at the recruitment of Armstrong which would suggest sticking with 2 strikers. We aren't going to go 3-5-2 with Hamill and Kent, so there just isnt room for him in the style we want to play.

I can understand why he may be frustrated, an I could understand why we may be frustrated if he's shown that frustration too much.

Best of luck to him and I think its brave to act so soon if it really doesn't have a chance of working. He either comes back in good nick and able to play, or we recoup the money. Win win all round.

I agree but I also don't think that we lost the match solely because of him, I think it was more because we made the wrong change to include him. We sacrificed a striker to play him in midfield instead of sacrificing one of the other midfielder which I think would have worked far better.

That's only my opinion of course and doesn't change the main point of your post which is true, he underperformed which is allowed, every player does it occasionally, but he needs to prove himself in training to get back in

Did his Dad see the Rotherham game? Who the hell does he think should be dropped?

He's not automatically entitled to anything and the current XI have earned their shirts. If he thinks he should be gifted games rather than be judged on merit then he can stay at Posh.

To be fair though the lads had a very good season at Colchester and from there he needs to kick on.

We changed to the formation that suits him at Huddersfield and he still couldn't get on.

I just don't think Hecky fancies him at the minute.

We're in a win win situation as he's on a 3 year deal. Unless he's ***** at posh that is in which case no one will want to pay for him.

I can see us selling him for double what we paid.

Imagine Posh being third in the league in January with Moncur having 10 goals?
