Interesting that but that was probably the most depressing back ground music I've ever heard....a feel like slitting my wrists

Th Vine Tavern pub on Pitt Street was knocked down for it. Significant for me cos me Grandad was landlord in the early 70s.

There's a few seconds of that on this video as well as a few other places that were knocked down to make way for the road and the Alhambra.

There's a bit of the bus station and that end of town, that'll be totally unrecognisable if this council scheme they are on with ever comes to fruition.

Interesting picture of the town end, would be a major bottleneck if it was like that today.

John Rideal House in the background before it was reclad.

Thanks Jed - I'd totally forgotten the Wheatsheaf was ever there.

Does anyone remember the name of the pub where the Alhambra is now. It was on the left, off a side street walking up New Street from the Yorkshire Bank

Aye that's the one. Thanks mate.

We (mates and I) used to frequent the Old Pavilion when we were teenagers. I used to walk up Princess Street to pick up Chris and then we'd walk down New Street and have the first one in there. Happy Days....

Before my time as a drinker but everyone I know who went in there remember it fondly and were sad to see it go.
