I think this one is fairly straightforward, the lad has spent some time with the current squad and knows he's got some graft to put in to knock anyone off their perch. More so after the transfer activity recently. All of a sudden the other club that wanted him close season keep in touch and tell him how loved he'd be, play regular games blah blah and he's gone for it, easier option. If I'm right he's not a fit for us. Call it a gut feeling but I'm not sure he's got the bottle or confidence in his own ability to make a name for himself with us. Let's see, but honestly I can't see him playing another game in a red shirt.
What a load of old twaddle....... So after 4 minutes of football he's played you've based all them assumptions?? WOW
As I see it it's perfectly simple. He wants to play. He's currently no better than those who are playing for us. He wants to be loaned out. Peterborough come calling. Hecky reluctantly says he can. Hopefully he'll come back in January on top form, and he'll be like a new signing
Peterborough didn't come calling. He was on his way to MK Dons and his family contacted Peterborough to tell them he was available for loan. They got in touch with George and he signed there instead. And the loan deal is with a view to a permanent deal. So the op could be right in his assumption we'll never see him in a Reds shirt again.
How do you know its with a view to a permanent? I'd imagine we'll see him come off the bench soon now Swindon have equalised.
http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/...make-a-belated-entrance-at-the-abax-1-7555171 An expert analysis: "McCann, who played with Moncur’s father John at West Ham, was a big factor in persuading a midfielder ..." Georgy, Uncle Grant says he's stopped being cross with you now. 'Moncur said: “The manager sold the style of play to me."He wants me to create and score goals and that’s exactly how I want to play...' They'll let you be Conor Hourihane. “It was a strange old day yesterday (August 31). The Barnsley manager told me to keep my phone handy so I knew there were clubs interested in signing me. “When the phone did ring it was simply a case of getting down here and signing as quickly as possible. “I’m a bit taken in by it all to be honest. I really don't like the manager. That's why I haven't called him Hecky, or the 'Gaffer'. Also he doesn't like me to the point that he has revealed that my phone, rather than he, will mysteriously reveal my future destiny. It's temporarily affected my mental state. “I’m here until January initially when I understand the clubs will review the situation so there is plenty of time for me to make my mark." This is the bit where I'm meant to say 'I see myself as a Championship player and would love to force my way into the manager's thinking by doing brilliantly for the posh and giving him something to think about in January.' But he won't even talk to me and dad and my phone hasn't said anything yet. CONCLUSION Moncur will do OK and leave Barnsley for the Posh in January for 650k to cover lost wages and save face on the original price.
He must hate Peterborough too because he referred to McCann as 'the manager'. Or maybe when talking to people who dont really know hecky and when talking to Peterborough based journalists he thought it made a lot of sense to call their manager 'the manager's and Barnsley's manager 'barnsleys manager'. There's nothing disrespectful about that. It says grant McCann was a big factor in him signing, it doesn't say 'the fact that grant McCann once played with his dad was a big factor' He says that hecky told him to keep his phone on, he didn't say keep your phone on so somebody else will call you. Where in the article does it even suggest that concur was hinting that hecky would or wouldn't personally call him? What do you expect to happen? Hecky to drive round to Georges house and tell him that somebody wants to sign him? Of course it would be a phone call, that's why he said to keep the phone on. I don't see the point in making crap up about somebody who is still our player or making up a rift between a player and manager. It wouldn't be so bad if you hadn't completely misinterpreted pretty much every point you highlighted
OK, it was supposed to be a bit of fun at how interviews can be misinterpreted. Must have laid the irony on a bit too thin if you believe I would consider myself an expert!
It could be a scenario that he gets first team games at Posh, gets his game going, gets match fit, gets his eye for goal then comes back in Jan if conor hourihane is sold in that window. Moncur will be back and ready to go
