The work men appear to be taking the old wooden facia boards from just under the roof.It seems a bit strange to be doing that unless its the start of some upgrading work on the roof.Anybody heard anything?

Even stranger to be doing it this time of night. Somebody's bound to hear something.

Have they got the floodlights on?

It's the start of a new 3 tiered 15,000 seater stand, on the assumption that we make the premier league this season. I've got it from a good source.

Someone said the facia boards were being replaced as a safety precaution or something.

Not a new stand then, fascias being replaced, how boring. Hope they spend the transfer money wisely we'll be broke at this rate.

part of me thinks we'll never have a better time to redevelop, and as much as i love the character of the stand, walking down Belgrave road it deffo looks tardy and dated

Yes, a lot get the same feeling that it's now or never to spend some money on the very ugly out dated stand. But who are we to spend other people's money. Personally I wish they would, think they could afford it now with some money in the bank plus a healthy squad and league position.

We won't see the West Stand redeveloped unless imo we become an established Premiership team.

Why replace a stand that were only allowed to use half of?

We don't even own the stadium so I would hope the football club are not paying for this

Also.l, why would the football club build a stand in a stadium. They dont own

We are allowed to use all of it, it has a safety certificate. The reason we dont use more of it is to save money on Stewarding and policing costs.

by the way if we were only allowed to use half of it and were selling out - that would be an a reason to replace it.
That said the club doesnt own the ground anymore so I don't see how or why the stones/mawson money would be used to build a new one

We own 50% of it don't we? Our house is shared ownership and we have a 50% share. All the upkeep and any improvements are our responsibility.

As far as I know the money from the council is a loan so BFC own Oakwell and the land. This info came from an ex Barnsley councillor at the last home match.

No. We have a maintaining lease on the ground. Oakwell Community Assets Limited owns the stadium. The council own 50% of this and Patrick Cryne the other 50%. It was split when Patrick became custodian to stop parties buying the football club to get the assets.
