How bad was it? Didn't realise they were so poorly supported qpr brought more on a Tuesday night. Expected them bringing at least 1k. Was shocked when 412 was announced didn't look that many, maybe because they were all so far apart. But poor.

Plastic fans like Brighton, all turned up when Madejski pumped a few million and built a new stadium.

On our way back from Wembley (second time) we were naming the clubs we'd be playing against.

"Villa.. Newcastle.. Wednesday.. Leeds.. Derby" you get the drift.

We named 22 and couldn't for the life of us name the final club. Had to google it.

No offence to them or owt, but that's how I'd describe them. Forgettable.

They've never had a big support, rather their home gates are boosted by the size of Reading itself and the fans who followed them during their Premiership years and still go to home games. But their away support has always been a small number of loyal fans. In all the games we've played against them during the last decade I cant recall them every bringing more than 500. Like with a few clubs, the new stadium probably raised the apparent size of the club to levels they couldn't sustain long-term. Cardiff City are another example and I thought Swansea would go that way as well but so far so good. Brighton I'd argue are different in that they had large crowds at the Goldstone and their potential catchment area would suggest the club can continue to grow, albeit with 'new' fans who's long term attendance may be wavering.

Decent attendances during their good years in the 70s, early 80s

Me too, didn't look more than a bus load to me. The 700 Reds fans at Wolves looked 10 times as many as the Reading lot.

To say they get over 15,000 at home and their record up here is fantastic, their support on Saturday was pathetic. We've sold the same already for Brighton next Saturday. Boring fans, boring team, boring town. The original happy clapping vanilla club.

Like someone already said we have already sold the numbers what reading brought for Brighton. A club that average 15k should be bringing more than that unless they are giving their season tickets away like bradford and it's full of plastics.

We sound like Wednesday fans slagging off away followings

I'm guessing most of the fans thought we would grab a win...
