Big fan of Isgrove.yesterday was the first time I thought we really missed him and yesterday we missed him badly. Kent is a talented lad and will be a cracking player just sometimes in this league we will need an Isgrove type.

Not in the Southampton squad today again.

Easy to look back on last season and say some of the individuals we no longer have were better - we were in League One, you could count the number of really decent teams on one hand, Kent would no doubt have been just as effective as Isgrove, perhaps more so as he has a few goals in him...although I'd give it to Isgrove he is one of the most unselfish players I've seen and that helps a lot.

Not saying Isgrove is better than Kent.think that Kent will play regularly at a higher level than Isgrove.yesterday our wide players rarely pushed their full backs back and just thinking Isgroves sheer energy and work rate may have done that.

Thought Kent scared them yesterday in the early part of the first half. If we'd used him more when we were still in the game I think we could have got something.

I think the point your making is right, but it's not what Isgrove would have done to their full backs and more about what he would have done for ours.

Our full backs aren't playing well at the moment but they're not being helped by the wide players. Actually, it's not that anyone isn't playing well it's just that Isgrove is far more defensively minded due to his sheer energy than any of our other wingers.

Agree.keeping opposition on the back foot makes it easier for our defenders.

Only Brighton have shut us out this season in the league. Goals aren't a problem for us it's defensively we are weak. I don't think a guy who scored one goal for us in the league below and won't be match sharp as he's not played first team football for half a year, is the answer to our clean sheets problem.

Some players set the pace of the team with their energy. Isgrove was like that a metronome quickly transitioning us from defence to attack. We miss that and his terrific cover for his full back.

Not saying Isgroves the answer.saying we will need that type of player in this league on a lot of occasions.probably what the lad from Celtic will do when he is fit again.

Was going to say, I think Janko could be a great signing and would provide exactly what we need down the right wing. His cameo at Wolves was electric, so if he can regain fitness and have a good few games we could have a smashing player there.

my son said yesterday during game we miss isgrove. I have to agree. He set the pace of the game at times and his tracking back was fntastic.

He was really improving towards the end of the season. its a shame he couldnt continue that momentum with us

It should be Hammill position in question not Kent...

Hammill is one of my favourite players at the club. When on form Adam Hammill is as good as anyone in this league and scares the life out of defences. Going forward he offers flair, creativity and a constant goal threat. But lately he looks tired and frustrated his form has dipped dramatically and the tricks aren't coming off. Yesterday their fullback had him in his pocket. He was determined to get the better of the defender and go it alone. But is wasn't his day and he lost possession far to easily and to often. Should have been subbed. He will come back. But yesterday was not his day.

    Is Janko injured?

But agree would love Issy to be here. But yesterday I would have had him and Kent on the wings.

fletcher is a bigger loss than isgrove imho. he brought so much to our team and we would be a different team with him in it. Pace, skill, finishing, endeavour. he had it all.

Agree Fletcher is a massive loss.just saying that at times we will need a different type of wide player to compliment our flair players Hamill and Kent.

Izzy cant beat a man like Kent. He had their left back for breakfast a few times v Fulham. The way he knocked it past him and then left him was awesome. He just needs to learn to do that more higher up the pitch. he's losing posession in bad areas atm if it doesnt come off. He never gives up though. No matte how many times he has to keep giving it a go.

Izzy is more dogged and more high energy and ball winning is also better. Think Izzy has a better engine too.

I agree entirely about Hammill. We would never have got promotion without him, but he has not been as effective this season. On his day he is absolutely mesmerising, but the tight marking to which he is subject, by better defenders than those who were playing against him last season, is certainly frustrating him. I think we still have to start with him, but it would be nice to have Janko to bring on to sub him, if he is playing badly.

Kent is like having a boy in a man's team. He'll go past you a few times but then the old men work you out! Also doesn't cover enough he just wants to attack!

Totally agree but we knew Hammill was likely to struggle this season because from around an handful of clubs at championship level he's only done it for us but that was years ago.
