He's got to take some blame for us not pushing on after that great victory at Oldham. Was more Barnsley fans in the away end that day than in the entire ground three days later on the tuesday when they were home to MK Dons. Be best to just ignore him at the weekend and instead go OTT in chants for Hecky more than he's ever had before. Sing for five minutes non stop that he's one of our own for example.
I wish him well. Glad he's gone but harbour no ill will. Why live in the past. I think he managed us poorly but seemed to try his best. Football was poor but worked well with some players such as Conor. Onwards and upwards
Good luck to him. Thought he did well with us despite the bad run. Like ive said in previous posts if he was blamed for the bad run, he should also take credit for the turnaround in fortunes. Also can't blame him for buggering off to the championship to a team he held close to his heart when given the chance. Hecky is our boss now though and that's all that matters, no point dwelling on the past. Sent from my Kestrel using Tapatalk
But it was pretty obvious to see he was told to play 4-4-2 and Hammill was brought in for him, not by him. I give 100% of the blame to him for our discusting run and 20% credit for our good run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Some have speculated this yes. But I personally find it hard to believe that our owner would tell any manager what formation to play. And there's no real evidence to suggest this is the case either. Sent from my Kestrel using Tapatalk
He wasnt the manager though, he was head coach, with a team of people signing players for him. Its pretty obvious Hammill was signed by someone else, a player he could hardly not use. Whether he was actually told to play 4-4-2, I think signing a winger was enough of a push. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hecky is head coach now. Still think he deserves praise when doing well. As did LJ. We all know signings aren't solely made by the manager at oakwell now. We'll never agree on the issue anyway so no point going round in circles. I just find little logic in your argument. Sent from my Kestrel using Tapatalk
I just find it slightly coincidental that we brought back Hammill and all of a sudden went 4-4-2 when everyone had been calling for it for months yet LJ stubbornly resisted through defeat to defeat to play his system, whatever that was. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And the sheep who have never really had an opinion on the matter will join in and before you know it there's a chorus of "f*** off Johnson" turning the air blue. Unfortunately a mob mentality will prevail on Saturday. Level-headedness will cease to exist.
And stubbornly stuck by Nyatanga, who was obviously a big part of the problem. Johnson is back to his one upfront again I see, and will doubtless pack his midfield against our depleted one on Saturday. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Totally ambivalent. I think he's been a very lucky chap in his career so far. Luck eventually runs out.
He's not, but then he's got the players and the backing to implement his preference. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I'm really looking forward to Saturday's game, as per usual. Due to injuries & suspensions, Hecky will certainly have a selection dilemma. Which formation will be most practical, taking into account which players are available? I'm glad I don't have to solve it! His opposite number will be confident of knowing a great deal about our players, both individually and as a team. Many Barnsley fans have an intense dislike for Johnson and his actions whilst at the club, which will make the atmosphere somewhat different from a usual clash with Bristol City. It's never dull watching our club!
Added to the fact that there's always loads of goals in our games vs Bristol, it should be a cracker I can't wait.
I know people think he shafted PC, but come on, PC can't have had any ill feeling towards him - why would he have invited him as a guest to Wembley for the final? If he's moved on, so should we. Why focus so much negative energy on him? We're happy in our current predicament aren't we?
I don't see it as him shafting the club or the owner. Quite the opposite. Johnson and Bristol City fans may subscribe to that version of events, and probably think reds fans are bitter because he left us, but his move away actually turned in our favour. Patrick had considered giving him the push and paying his compensation, but we ended up with Bristol taking him and paying us for his services. The rest, as they say is history. Although I don't see any harm in discussing him as we play them on Saturday. Agree though, that best thing the fans can do on Saturday is get behind the lads in red, and let them do the business.
