No Josh or Capt H on Saturday.

    Kent Yiadom Morsy Hammill

    Kent Watkins Morsy Hammill

    Roberts
    Kent Watkins Morsy Hammill

    Roberts
    Kent Yiadom Morsy Hammill

    Yiadom
    Lee Morsy Watkins Hammill

The list is endless, be easier predicting the attendance than the team/formation. Will be stray from our favoured 4-4-2 and pack midfield with non midfielders? Promote a young Un for a suprise debut? Bet Heckys notepad is full as fook!

Thoughts??????? PS - I bet Moncur is loving warming benches darn Posh. Flipping eckers like, he'd have been a nailed on starter.

Yiadom in the middle, unless he takes a massive (imho) gamble on Ryan Williams.

and ps, agree, if Moncur and his crew hadn't got lip on, he'd be establishing himself in the Championship now. Soft get.

Depends on who is fit. If White is fit then I'd move Bree or Yiadom into midfield alongside Morsy
If he isnt I think I'd leave the back 4 well alone - Cole hasnt impressed me trouble is Williams didnt look match fit enough to start so we either have to play someone out of position or try a youngster. Id probably put Marley Watkins there but out of desperation rather than because I think its a good idea. O Squad depth looking a bit thin at the moment. As said above Moncur is looking a bit of a dick now

I think Yiadom in central midfield is a bigger gamble than Williams. Williams is a central midfielder, Yiadom is obviously used to playing at full-back/wing back.
Only seen him in central midfield when Hecky's hand was forced after Scowen was sent off and he looked out of place.

He can tackle and he's got pace. The doubt would be his reading of the game. Williams for me - can he mentally hack it ?

Without sounding like a keyboard warrior can you enlighten us on what you actually know about Williams and his mental capacity for "hacking it"?

Would be tempted to play 5 in midfield with Yiadom and Morsy deeper and Williams behind the striker. Mainly for the reason that I don't think we can't rely on either yids of williams to play in a midfield two alone with Morsy and Bristol will be packing the midfield. But on the otherhand not sure I would want to move yiadom from left back unless white is fit. Really tough one for the manager this.

I'm wondering (hence the question mark) if he's mentally up to being thrown straight into a highly competitive 90 minutes, considering his recent injury record and how little his last return to the 1st XI lasted before he broke down again.

Also given PH's recent interviews it seems that in an ideal world he'd get game time built up before starting a game in the league.

Mentally then or physically? I assume PH has every confidence or he wouldnt have been in the squad for Brentford.

Part of building him up to a full 90 minutes. As per the interview I referred to.

    And both mentally and physically

I'd play Watkins in place of Conor & put Hammill on wing

I know that most posters want to stay with 4-4-2, but the obvious thing to do would be to go to a back 3 with wing backs. Then you are only looking for 3 in midfield.

Bearing mind Saturday's substitutions, I would think he will go for Williams alongside Morsy in the middle. We'll see.

Would you even be asking this question if it wasn't for the bile LJ came out with? There was never anything mentally wrong with him, he had a physical injury which LJ kept denying and subsequently playing him making it worse, despite Williams repeatedly telling him that he was injured. It's hardly surprising therefore that he 'broke down again' as his injury hadn't actually been treated; he'd basically been belittled into feeling that he had to play as according to LJ - to the press - he just had 'mental barriers' that stopped him from playing through pain. It wasn't a case of breaking down 'again' as nothing had actually been done to rectify his injury.

Now he's had the operation he needed and proper rehabilitation he is starting to feature more regularly (he's played in 4 under 23 games recently - including playing 75mins and 90mins, plus he had the short time on Saturday). As you rightly say, in an ideal world he'd get game time built up but that's true for anyone who's been out with an injury because of match fitness and the physical strain of playing a full first team match in the Championship, nowt to do with mentally hacking anything.

I'm not aware of anything Johnson said about Ryan Williams, and to be fair I think you're reading something that isn't there - all I'm going on is how he performed when he tried to come back last time - quite understandably he looked off the pace, but more than that - in my opinion he looked scared to death.

Now having gone on what Heckingbottom has said, this time it looks like we have a plan in place to get him back to how he can be. I hope he does and I'm not making any pre judgements, just asking a question and am concerned that if he's rushed back in advance of what has been planned then long term it wouldn't do him any good. I really don't get this thing that I'm offering a psychiatric opinion or anything, I'm just wondering that given his recent history, can he cope with what will be a very demanding 90 minutes on Saturday if picked to start ? If he starts I hope he tears the turf up, but the team getting 3 points is more important than anything else.
