Those of you who haven't seen or heard of this will have your hearts broken. I'm in bits myself. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-37955748
Heard about this yesterday on Radio 2. What a brave owner to face up to such a traumatic thing as putting your dog to sleep. Lovely send off, not sure I could do it. Just so heart wrenching. RIP Walnut :-(
very , very touched by this story, particularly as having faced this once before, we are probably looking at a similar scenario in the near future and its awful to contemplate.
This story brings back Sad memories for me too. My first whippet, Maddie, had to be put to sleep at 2 years old. 6 years ago..... She started pawing uncontrollably at her face 6 months earlier.... She was originally diagnosed with epilepsy, and we spent the next 5 months (and around £12,000) travelling back and forth to Manchester to see a brain specialist and trying countless combinations of drugs. For 95% of every day, she was a normal active whippet... but the rest of the time, she would scratch her face, and lose the use of her back legs... and shake, then almost pass out. A truly horrible experience. The diagnosis changed when she became worse, to a condition called myasthenia gravis (if I've spelt it correctly) We took her to our caravan in Sherwood forest, one of her favorite places, which we didn't know at the time was her last trip. She contracted pneumonia. We still have her last ever stick that she fetched... I'm in bits typing this ..
A lot of us being there? Heartbreaking. Lost three dogs similarly in last 5 years. Just look on brightside at all the enjoyment they give you
Whippet's have such expression full faces, dont know what it is about them. Ours is a whippet staffy, pointer cross,. Im dreading the day
