If anyone has 2 minutes could they try the following for me. It doesn't involve disclosing information but I would you to try accessing HMRC online site using the two following methods. at the end of each method I get an HTTP403 error which basically means 'sod-off' you cannot enter' I have lost my gateway username and pwd but I need to contact them online..

Anyway, if you get the same error and let me know I would be grateful..

    METHOD 1

    https://www.gov.uk/apply-marriage-allowance

    Select 'start now'
    eligibility 'yes'
    Select 'continue'
    I get 'http403 error'

    end test

    METHOD 2

    https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs

Select link for 'register for HMRC online services'
Select “want a personal tax account”
    Select 'start now'
Select 'forgotten user ID and password' link under 'Problems signing in' heading
Select either of the two radio buttons

    Continue....
    I get HTTP 403 error

    End test

    Thanks

Both work for me, I'm afraid. I feel for you, though - I've been running a small business for about six months now and HMRC's online portals are awful. They seem to work once set up properly, but I've never encountered a more difficult-to-setup service.

OK thanks for your time. At least it points me to issues with my browser rather than a blanket problem with the Website. Strangely it is the only the HMRC webpages that I am having problems accessing . ' Strangely though, The reply with quote' though on herehas also stopped working as I can see the spinning timer next to the Reply with Quote link and that has been spinning for about 1 minute now :-(

Interesting - that's happening to me too. I assumed it was to do with me changing operating systems, but perhaps not. I find it fixes itself if you wait a while and click it again.

Both work fine for me. However, I have comments on both aspects of your post.

Firstly, I've been having lots of similar problems to you when trying to navigate to websites using links in emails, links on here, or links in other websites. I'm using Microsoft Edge, Windows 10. I'm currently in Germany and it works here, but at home (Dodworth, on a PlusNet connection) links don't work, but they sometimes do in Chrome or Firefox! If I log in to another provider, for example at a friend's house, it works fine again. I've no idea what is causing this but I just thought I'd mention it.

As far as the marriage allowance goes, my wife tried to apply to transfer hers to me, but apparently she cannot do it online as she is not a UK resident. Instead, there was a form to downloade and post off, which worked fine. Since you live abroad you may need to do something like this. Just a thought.

    Thanks.

Probably easier for me to send for forms and post them when in UK. Incidentally reply with quote seems to have stopped working for me. I have tried on both my PC and my Laptop so it is not the computers at my end unless the router has thrown a wobbly. Is your reply with quote OK mine times out and just gives mme a blank input message window( which I have typed this on)
